See the attached screenshots. First one is me disabling VSA in Individual mode via the “Pedal Dance”, and the second is me disabling VSA in +R mode with the button. The gauge cluster shows slightly different icons/things, so I’m curious if there is a difference between the two methods.

I tried it both ways at an autocross yesterday. Didn't notice a difference between the two.

The pedal dance will allow you to turn off traction and VSA outside of +R mode. I have noticed that braking feels different in an autocross between holding the traction-off button for 10 seconds in +R and doing the pedal dance while using Individual. Not sure if there was a difference.

Can someone re-share what the pedal dance is?

Thanks
Put your foot on the brake and hold
Turn off traction control (hold for a second until it beeps for future reference)
Turn on traction control
Pull up on the e-brake
Take your foot off the brake
Turn off traction control
Turn on traction control

What felt different? I guess the "Pedal Dance" way puts it in some service mode, hence the different icons.

The pedal felt different, almost as if it didn't quite have ABS. It's not conclusive as there were other variables at play. I did my first run in +R mode and it was way too bumpy for this particular venue (the first time I've encountered that, but this was a different venue than the other 3 places I've competed in this car so far), so that may have attributed to that feeling (+R hasn't been too bumpy in the 11 events before this). By no means did it feel like something was wrong, dangerous or that it didn't have ABS; I would have locked up a couple times. I'm going to try it again at my next event this coming weekend. It's only a week from this past Saturday's event and at a different location, so an A-B comparison should still be fresh in my mind.

I was recording video through the LogR app, but for the life of me can't get the LogR data to sync with the video. If I could, I would have some data to look at (brake pressure for one) and see if it was just in my head, which I'm leaning towards at this time.

Interesting. There could be a difference, but it would take some methodical testing to find out. I do think the "Pedal Dance" puts the car into some sort of service mode, where it goes a bit further in disabling the "nannies". I have to experiment more myself.

Tested this out at the track a couple weeks ago - Pedal dance will completely disable traction and stability control. +R mode with traction and stability control “off” will still engage the rear brakes to help rotate the car around corners, resulting in accelerated rear pad wear. Basically, same as the FK8.

The car won’t rotate as much with the pedal dance, but your brakes will last longer with less heat in the system and much less wear to the rears.

My gut was telling me it was this way (see my last post), but I didn’t spend enough time to know. Thanks for confirming. Sounds like “Pedal Dance” is the way to go on track. Surprised more don’t use it.

The pedal dance indeed puts VSA in maintenance mode. It disables the agile handling assist but does not disable the ABS. The agile handling assist is not really heavy on pad wear, at least not with higher temp pads - a problem 17-19 fk8 had with OEM pads.

Would be interesting to see laptimes. If pedal dance removes rear brake assist for rotation, you might actually end up going slower!
Yes, if you're used to that. But if you've driven older cars or race-prepped cars on track it will be more natural and thus faster. I will take my car one day to the track, just not yet. I've raced in FF1600 and Mazda Miata spec, so got that out of my system for the most part when I was younger. I've also taken my street cars to the track occasionally, but without mods, as I don't want to compromise their streetability. Even with mods, they typically can't take being pushed hard for many laps, so it's just a curiosity thing.
