Definitely will need to take off the bottom diffuser piece and lower the rear of the exhaust some to access all of the 8mm nuts. For the heck of it, I sprayed a bit of white lithium grease on the valve hinges and that made the rattle go away! Not sure how long it will last but should hold me over till I find time to install the new spring.

I just put my fuse back in and sprayed some lube onto the hinges as well and can confirm that I don't have the rattle during cold start. Hopefully this lasts at least a month and I'll just go in and lube it up again if it comes back. Short term fix but wasn't too much trouble.

So only after 1 day the rattle on the valve came back after lubing it. I'll try one more time with the grease to see if I can make it stay away for longer but looks like the spring is the real fix.

Grease lasted 2 days for me. Heard the rattle during this morning's cold start.

Installed the Hyundai valve spring and can confirm its a direct fit. Its quite a bit stiffer and physically looks to have more spring to it. I removed the lower diffuser and 3 out of the 4 rear muffler hangers. That gave me enough clearance to access the 8mm nuts on the actuator. Took 1.5 hrs from start to finish. Outcome-no valve rattle! I will do further testing this weekend and update with results. Fingers crossed this did the job.

Happy to report the rattle is gone with the new spring installed! I'll update if it ever comes back but I think this did the trick. This may also be a solution for others that are experiencing exhaust valve rattle with aftermarket systems that utilize the OEM actuator.

Just installed the new spring on my exhaust and so far no rattle. I used the same Hyundai spring and only cost me $10. I also bough a pair of exhaust hanger pliers as well to make removal of the rubber things on the exhaust easier.

I used WD-40 and elbow grease but those pliers would've been nice. Still 0 rattles for me. This seems to be a long term solution.

Quick update, I noticed that my valve is not opening when it should now and is basically closed shut. I'm going to open it back up tomorrow morning to check if the spring didn't catch correctly on the valve to allow for it to open. I tried pushing it open manually and having someone rev the car in R+ mode but seems to be stuck shut. No rattle right now though but want to make sure I get this functioning again.

Got everything working again but ended up putting the original spring back in. Not sure what the problem was when I replaced with the Hynudai spring but the valve definitely was not opening up at all. Not sure if the spring wasn't sitting correctly on the valve mechanism or if the actuator was erroring out because it was stuck or in the wrong position. Had to troubleshoot and turn the car on/off a few times to confirm actuator was working and to put it back to the correct position and then put the original spring on to test it. Since it works now I'm going to leave as is. Rattle is not present with the original spring for now so maybe I fixed it by just tightening everything back up. If it comes back I'll update.

Did you do the reset procedure with the actuator off before you reinstalled with the new spring? Glad your original spring isn't rattling anymore but I had no issues with my install and valve is operating as it should.
