For those former FK8 owners out there, did you see a price cycle on aftermarket parts where initially they were priced high while demand was high from early adopters and supplies were low and then later see prices come down?

Just noticing the significant price difference on parts for the FL5 vs FK8 and I’m curious about when the prices may start to mellow. Would be worth the wait looking at some of the crazy prices at the moment.

The most common upgrades / bolt ons have you around $6k.

This is what most people on Drobs instagram getting tuned seem to be running.

PRL Intake $480
PRL rear motor mount $190
PRL Intercooler $850
TSP downpipe $900
Awe Exhaust $1700
Hondata $800
Jailbreak/Tune $500

TOTAL: $5,420 plus tax, around $5,800.

Throw in tint at $200-300, PPF $500-$2,000, ceramic coat $500-$100, coolant tank $300, don’t get me started on injectors and fuel pump…

spending $10K ++ in basic mods are not that surprising these days. Just add Wheels and Tires, and abit of carbon bits here and there and you hit 10K eazy.. If you want nice coilovers thats another $5K ++ .. its pretty insane actually.. I always create a sheet that tracks my spending for the car and I always cringed when I see how much I've spent on a car.

idk about fk8 but i did noticed that ever since the fl5 came out, almost all aftermarket parts for it has been through the roof. companies are charging an arm and an leg for it like its an exotic car. i guess it being the last ICE CTR and pretty much the best CTR up to date, the most elegant CTR up to date and exclusivity, they Can charge more cuz it IS That kind of car now. a simple catback STARTS at 1800 which is nuts. all my exhaust systems costs less than a $1k for all my other cars. the fl5 is the only car where the catback costs the most. This car cost as much as my Alfa 4C, the car AND aftermarket parts which is mind blowing to me. but also inflation might have something to do with it too.

Thanks for those replies all. At least it confirms it’s not just me noticing the price hike. I’ve done wheels and ads unit and cosmetic mods but I think I’ll just save for a bit and hopefully see some correction in years to come. Lucky for us the car is mostly track ready from the box. The track I use does 20 min sessions and i haven’t had any major overheating issues or brake issues.

Yeah, the car is definitely track ready from factory, but only when the ambient is below 70 hehehe, once summer weather comes along and the ambient is 80-100 degress, at least my car cannot handle it when you push it hard. I upgraded the radiator for this year track day, let see how she holds up . Also I think the stock pads are meh, I got paragon R5 and its definitely much better for track driving.
