Fuel cut or ignition cut at rev limiter?

Does the car cut fuel or ignition timing at the rev limiter? I was revving out in 2nd gear today and accidentally allowed the car to hit the rev limiter and I felt a hard fuel cut instead of what I thought should have allowed me to be bouncing off the limiter? From what I've heard, fuel cut off only in 1st, but it should allow me to bounce off the limiter at 2nd and up? Is this not the case with the FL5?
