Head gasket warranty extension?

So apparently Honda has released a warranty extension for the head gaskets on the CRV, Accord and Civics for 150k miles or 10 years. I haven’t seen anything online from Honda themselves but apparently you’re supposed to get a letter in the mail about this.
Has anyone gotten this notice yet? Specifically for the Si?

Forgive my ignorance but I wonder why they aren't? Is this problem mostly a 1.5 / 1.5 Turbo issue only?

Yes, its only an issue with the 1.5T.

They're a lot less prone to headgasket failures in the same manner that the 1.5T suffers. Type-Rs also have a more rubst cooling circuit and better designed headgasket.

Type r head gasket is just as flimsy, and there's only a sliver of material separating the cylinders. 2.0l piston diameter and thicker headbolts probably help hold it together better. Fk8 and 2.0t accords do suffer to some extent.

I’ve only done one 2.0 Accord head gasket at work. But it’s pretty much every Civic, Cr-v and Accord with the 1.5 liter, also the Cr-v hybrid. To say it’s every 4 cylinder since 2016 wouldn’t be a lie it’s a very, very common. What’s awesome is Honda lowered the warranty time since the issue of the warranty extension, so I get paid less now because they have to eat their poor design. if you think you have issue, usually starts as a cold start misfire that goes away when warm and loss of coolant, and usually only on cylinders 2 and 3.

It’s not, Cr-v hybrids pop like crazy, hell I had cracked piston in one. The extension is for 1.5 and 2.0 n/a motors, and like I said the Cr-v hybrid. The 2.0 turbos I’ve only seen one at work, so rare by my count anyway. Though some Acura Rdx 2.0 had exhaust studs drilled to deep and cracked cylinder heads in the water jacket.

I don’t, lol. If your flashed and If you have a software update for something from Honda, flash back to stock before coming in for service. But when we scan for codes or on board snap shots and if Honda sees a program changes they could deny claim. The hds scan tool is always connected to Honda. I’ve only had one issue with a tune, tech line could see it when they looked a issue with a civic.

American Honda documented a premium fuel recommendation for the 2.0 hybrids, which should help head gasket life along with the water pump software TSB.

Honda engineering later withdrew the premium fuel recommendation, likely due to pressure from sales.

Note Honda recommends 95 RON octane in Europe, which translates to 90-91 octane in the USA.

The 2.0 hybrid mechanical compression ratio is 13.9:1, but I'm not sure what ratio the combustion gases see due to the Atkinson Cycle.

I heard one of the reasons this is an issue is because of the way ECO mode is tuned on these 1.5T engines and how it will cause LSPI and strain the head gasket.

Really makes you think — because everyday drivers will probably run ECO mode to save gas meanwhile Si’s don’t have ECO mode and this issue isn’t nearly as common on those as they are Accords/CRV/base Civics etc.
