You can notice it in some people’s driving videos where the revs keep rising as they are up shifting, it’s almost like they’re not lifting off the gas when they push the clutch in. It’s not just 1st to 2nd. Jerkiness is just the driver.

I get this too, and I've learned to drive around it already by just lifting on the throttle a hair sooner.

I'm not sure if it's rev hang or just a delay, because the revs flare up instead of just staying put.

that’s the rev hang, the ECU is making it do that for… reasons

It's one of the first things that a lot of people/tuners do with Hondata flashpros on FK8/FL5/DE5s, not sure what else to say there. This has been discussed for years and years 🤷

Guess everyone’s interpretation of rev hang
And their particular fl5 can vary . Just because tuners make a tune for it doesn’t mean everyone is experiencing it with their application. I’m sure some have it worse then others .

Yup which is why it's there as a toggle, you don't have to do it. It's very common though and has been for years at this point.

I've experienced exactly what OP has described and I'm able to drive around it, but it's also something that also has a tune solution 👍

This car has rev hang? only noticeable in high gear mid range for me. I autocross a lot and bang 1-2nd shift all the time no issues, just take it smoothly

Rev hang drove me nuts in my 8th gen Si and my Accord. I’ve never noticed it in the FL5, stock or tuned. However, I do get that occasional flare when accelerating hard, then up shifting. That only seems to happen at or near full throttle, but shifting 1k or so before redline. I think this is something different though as it’s a rev flare rather than a rev hang.

Yeah I have this quite a bit, I have to let off pretty early to avoid it sometimes, depending on what I'm doing. Think the issue is that the throttle just stays open for too long, which is basically what the "rev hang" issue is. Revs just don't fall as fast as I would like compared to older manual cars.

I think the car is keeping the throttle open to maintain boost for the next gear. It annoys me; I'd rather it close, RPMs fall, and I have to build that last bit of boost again after shifting, personally.

I do AutoX too but either leave way too much time on the table waiting to rev match into second or I drop the clutch with a nice chirp and/or jerky shift. Pretty hard to be consistent when you only get 5-6 runs per event. Would you mind explaining your technique?

Not sure about him but I bite down really hard on my rear molars between shifts.
Eliminates the need for a tune and my ECU can remain a virgin.

Not really how anti-lag works unfortunately, this is done purely for emissions. Some NA manual cars suffer from it also.

It's not anti-lag (I don't think anti-lag has been mentioned once in this thread), and emissions is certainly a factor, but it does impact turbo response. Keeping the throttle open helps to maintain boost so response is quicker when you get back on the throttle.

I've had plenty of cars that suffered from rev-hang, and none of them exhibited the behavior that this car does in the upper rpm range, where rpms continue to climb aggressively after you lift off.
