With the many things missing from the US SI, the one that ended up bothering me the most was the sunglass holder. The console on the manual is just too small and I have had a map light sunglass holder in my daily for the past 15 years.
I decided to try to add one. I got the sunglass holder out of a wrecked 2023 Integra. I don't have the part number for the housing, but I am sure Acura parts can find it for those interested. It ended up being pretty simple. It is just terrifying cutting the headliner.
The original piece is held in by tabs on the rear and push in retainers in the front. To remove it you just need to pull it down firmly from the front and lower it out on an angle. The replacement unit has the same push in retainers in the front and screw holes in the rear. There is a spot on the Civic (I can only confirm the SI) for clip nuts that line up with the holes in the replacement unit. I was able to use M6 clip nuts, 20mm flanged M6 bolts and 3/8" washers from Advanced Auto to fasten the rear of the replacement unit in. The guy at Advanced was nice enough to let me run out to the car a few times to test fit the hardware before buying.
I made template for the new map light section out of an cereal box. Taped it in place with the original map light section to line it up. Traced the cut line with chalk and used one for the break away extendable knives to cut the liner out.
I was able to then put in the clip nuts, plug everything in and push the front of the replacement unit in. I used the flange bolts and washers to faster the rear of the replacement unit in. That was it, now I have a place for my sunglasses.
