I hate the aluminum center console. I couldn't justify spending $650 on the Genuine Honda CF Centre Panel, so I bought this one for $250 instead:

This looks much better than the aluminum, but there's no red weave in the CF. 🙁

To be honest, I was afraid that I would hate the Genuine part because it would be a reminder that I spent $650 on an overlay every time I stepped into the car. Now when I step in, I'm reminded that I spent $250 on an overlay and that it's not as cool as the genuine part.

What do you guys think? Should I have shelled out another $400 for the Genuine part?.. It's not too late, I could pull it out and return it. 😛

I went back and forth on the carbon vs wrap. Decided it would flow better to get the whole section to match in alcantara vs just one section in carbon.

As for the colors matching, they are as close as you could possibly get imo. Anyone that has seen mine for the first time thinks it's oem. That's how close it is.

Yeah, for the price of the OEM CF overlay, it really should come pre-applied (direct epoxied) to a new base trim piece with the clips etc.

I had sort of the opposite thought as you @getGroyped. Though expensive, I couldn’t jump the mental hurdle of not seeing the OEM matching trim (to match my OEM CF wing) every time I stepped into my car. Admittedly, I am more OCD than many…and it often costs me $$$.😩

With that said, if OEM isn’t important, I can see where if one went without the red weave and matched all their CF throughout, that’d be a REALLY nice approach too…keeping in mind all aftermarket aero I’ve seen doesn’t have red weave either.😀

It's annoying that the genuine carbon pieces are so expensive... but IMO as others have said, I think it's worth it. I care about it being OEM parts and it matching my wing vs. the cost, which will fade over time. I've had bad experiences with 3rd party carbon pieces on other cars (fitment mostly) so for my OCD it's worth it.

The EPR stuff doesn't look bad though, I'm almost tempted to buy a piece and do a side-by-side comparison.

I just bought the EPR piece, I will let you all know what I think about it once I have it installed.

I found that EPR also sells other CF red weave pieces for the FL5.

I received the EPR international overlay and wanted to let you all know that it's garbage. See the picture below, the carbon weaves are not identical. This looks nothing like the picture on their website, it didn't even come with adhesive on the back!

Looks like the weave goes the opposite direction from OEM. Also every aftermarket "red carbon" part I've seen the red part is much larger than OEM so it will be difficult to match.

Thanks for reporting back on the EPR piece and I was concerned about being disappointed as well. Maybe their plain carbon version would be better.

My concern with these is always the fitment around the buttons. This is a screen capture of the video of the Amazon overlay.

These are trimmed in these areas and the part you get might not match the OEM shape and then you get to look at silver peaking through the hole every time you get in.

The answer to your initial question is a simple one: pay up for the OEM accessory or leave it stock. Now you've gone through two pieces that missed the mark and you're out some money.
