I was thinking of buying a k&n panel filter for my car and was wondering if it is worth it or should I just save my money and buying a real intake like the infinity design which I had my eye on.

There’s almost a $1.5k delta between those products. What are you trying to achieve with an intake?

I'm not a fan of filters that need oil, like K&N. I use AEM dryflow filters. This video compared the performance and filtration of 4 panel filters.

I have Infinity design’s intake, but as someone said above, what is your overall goals for the car? That extra money could be put into other worthy modifications depending on what you wanna do.

I wanted the infinity design intake because I love the way it looks not really for performance

Regarding K&N, search YouTube for FL5 intake comparisons and you'll see how much difference they make.

Back in the day with my CRX Si, Jackson Racing recommended a K&N air filter, an airbox mod, and a high performance muffler good for a 10% power boost. In my car it felt like more than 10%. However, after nearly 100k miles the valve guides seemed rather loose. I lived in FL, where there was plenty of sand along the roads. I washed and re-oiled the filter annually. That car didn't have a mass airflow sensor, so I didn't have to worry about excess filter oil coating the sensor element either.

I would try to stay away from oiled filters like the K&N. I used it on another car in the past and it actually dripped oil down into the air box so I can only imagine the mass air flow sensor getting coated. I would look into a dry filter if you want a drop-in filter. I personally ran the Spoon, or you can get the sprint which is the same filter for cheap, and I think AFE has a dry filter also. That's just my opinion. No, you won't ever feel a difference aside from a little added induction noise.

Before I got Infinity Design’s air intake, I was using PRL’s HVI, and I swapped their oiled filter for AEM’s DryFlow air filter. I prefer the convenience and like you said, less worries for someone if they accidentally put too much oil and mess up their MAF sensor.

Do you remember the part number for the AEM filter? It probably filters better than the Spoon/Sprint.

Yeah! I got you. Let me check my emails for the specific part number. It’s definitely not crazy expensive.. you’ll never catch me paying Spoon Tax lol.

Yeah Spoon tax is nuts. I happened to pay the tax on the filter. I always admired the company since the early 2000’s, but I’m always open to other options for daily use.

Found it.

It is “AEM 21-2093DK” perfect fit for the PRL HVI. With my experience, no issues with install and no problems with over 5k miles until upgrading to Infinity Design. Also checked on Amazon and its 20% off right now going for 48$

Also incase you or anyone else in the thread is curious about the dimensions.
