Hello all, I’ve recently replaced the head gasket on a 2022 Civic Si, and all is well but for this. Only on startup, it sometimes makes a rattling noise that sounds like it’s coming from the HPFP side of the valve cover. I took the valve cover off, and it revealed nothing obvious (I have not taken off the metal fuel pump side of the cover yet). I also took the HPFP out; the O-ring was slightly dirty, so I cleaned it and applied fresh oil, to no avail. When driving, it sometimes breaks up hard under boost and then throws a P0087 code (Fuel pressure too low). Not sure what the issue could be. Could the fuel pump really just fail after sitting out for a week while I did the head gasket? Really, really looking for help. Any and all answers are appreciated, thanks.

Linked is a video of the noise it makes on startup.

Google search "honda civic p0087 code troubleshooting" and it describes the things to look for. Also at least one YouTube video out there.
I would double check all the electrical connectors you touched during the gasket change. See if the connector pins and sockets are undamaged and not corroded.
Unfortunately my 1st thought is a bad cam lobe, follower, or HPFP due to the noise mentioned.
Best of luck!

I doubt it would be an electrical connector issue due to the metallic mechanical noise it's making, but I'll see what I can find. As for the others, the follower looks good and operates smoothly and quietly. The pump itself sounds like it's working as it should be. The only thing I haven't had time to check yet is the cam lobe, but it looked fine when I put the engine back together. I appreciate the advice.
