After living with these mirrors for two weeks now I can report back it makes cars farther than reality, the convex wide view eliminates all blind spots. The blue tint does make it easier on sunny days. Also why does every car have to tailgate me!?! ?

I was able to secure a set of these from a forum member who had access in Japan. I was unimpressed with the stick on Spoon mirrors and felt indifferent with the SUMA mirrors. I opted to keep the heating function, blind spot monitor and turn signal feature so I went with Mugen. Originally these were meant for the JDM FK8 and/or FL1 ( 11th Gen Hatchback ) but they seemed to work fine with the FL5. Part number is 76200-XNR-K1S0 for those interested. This part number is specifically for the LHD FK8/FL1/FL5. I still see them in stock at Black Hawk Japan's online site.

The fit and finish of the Mugen mirrors are excellent and better than the oem, install was sketchy especially removing the side mirror caps to access the harness clip. Overall took me about 30 mins per side slowly adjusting the caps and mirrors to "click" into place. It comes with a piggyback harness to split the power to the turn signal and blind spot LED, that part of the install was very straight forward plug and play.

It's only been a day since I installed them but there's definitely significant improvement in visibility and glare control. Since this mirror is convex, theres no point in which a car is hidden in the blindspot that doesn't either appear in the window or mirror. The blind spot led flashes bright red ( very bright at night ) which I feel is an improvement over stock. It's nice to now have the turn signal led on the mirror facing the driver, I'm hoping the extra turn signal LEDs facing the rear will offer more visibility to the drivers behind.

My struggle now is finding a rear view mirror that matches the same blue tint of these side mirrors. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Curious if the mirror cap needs to come off for this install?

Or just the lenses it self gets swapped.

Tia.

I installed mine but the driver side did the click sound but the mirror now does not go up all the way, i think I messed it up but I did the adjustment and they are perfect can’t regret that mod I bought another mirror to change all the inside, that is another day project.

Are both side mirrors equally making cars look further back than reality? In the US generally the driver side mirror shows distance as standard and the passenger side shows further back to reduce blind spots. Since this is from a JDM car I’m curious if the effect is reversed to account for RHD or if the Mugen mirrors are designed to show both mirrors at the same timeā€distanceā€ equally. If that makes sense?

I can confirm the mirrors have the same convex curvature and the same view of field

I missed this but you need to make sure you're applying even and firm pressure at all 4 sides of the mirror until you hear the "cups" behind the mirror snap into the protruding/ rotating shafts all around. The mirror probably isn't moving upwards because the shaft is disconnected from the mirror cup. All 4 shafts should be fully threaded into the mirror panel before you apply the firm pressure. Hope that helps!

can anyone confirm if there’s a protective film to remove on 76200-XNR-K1S0. I received mine and it didn’t seem to have any pull tabs to indicate that there is one. And i don’t just wanna pick at the mirror and ending up damaging it.

thanks for the insight. Also is it just me have you noticed that the mugen side mirrors tend to show words and license plates alittle blurry at times?

I haven't notice that, ensure your mirrors are completely clipped into the side mirror housing. If not I could see vibrations from being loose could cause the vision problems.

I just got these installed and perhaps its still new to me but after the first drive, cars appear way farther than it seems. I had to caution myself to check the rear view mirror as well as over my shoulder to see how far the cars really are.

Ive also noticed that the blind spot, as cool as the red indicator is, it appears to show the car sooner and closer, rather than back in a distance. Lets for example that a car is one cars length next to me, only then will the indicator show up. The stock one will appear if the car is 2-3 car lengths back.

Again, this could be just new first impressions but can anyone clarify this? Thanks

Yes, it’s like being on a motorcycle! You’ll notice everything—it makes your blind spot feel larger and makes you more aware of who’s around you. I’m constantly looking at my mirrors, but that’s more of a veteran thing, I guess. I don’t know if anyone else here does it, but I look at the mirrors at least every 5 seconds unconsciously šŸ˜‚.

That’s pretty much it for them. The price tag is insane, especially when some competitors basically have the same product for less, but that’s a conversation for another day.

Also, I don’t know where you’re from, but if you drive in the morning and it’s cold enough for the mirrors to fog up, the defrosting isn’t that great either. I’m not sure if it’s just them or someone else with the same issue, but I hit the defogger button, and as soon as it turns off, they fog right back up!
