Bro I’m the same way . You will be okay don’t worry to much about it . Try not to . I just got a white si as well and I be tripping on the smallest stuff . Enjoy the car and try to explai. To her that thisis not okay . And she might need to see a doctor .Hi All!
I just picked up a new white '23 Si a few weeks ago and am really loving the car so far. Aside from some annoying intermittent rattles from the seatbelt, passenger door and dash that come and go, I have zero complaints. This car checks off so many boxes for me and I'm very proud to be apart of the Si and Honda family finally.
I'll try my best to keep this short and concise because I have a tendency to be longwinded. Unfortunately my girlfriend has been going through a bad stint with her mental health recently and has been having frequent anxiety and panic attacks. A couple weeks ago, when I first got the car, I took her out for a drive to show her the new car and I actually had to end up pulling over because she started having a nervous breakdown (not related to my driving lol, something unrelated). She started hyperventilating and kinda flailing around and in a moment of anger and distress she kicked underneath the glove box several times fairly hard but not necessarily too too hard.
Being a car guy and a little OCD if I'm being honest, I became really paranoid that she potentially damaged something. I took a look under the glovebox where she kicked and everything looks normal, nothing looks out of place/loose and nothing is dangling. I understand that either the AC compressor or various AC components are located in this area and are fairly/exposed visible, so I'm just nervous that she might've caused damage. Whether that's damage that will become apparent or not, it worries me that maybe she somehow damaged the components and maybe I'll never know/find out until if and when something breaks.
Additionally, I've noticed that upon cold starting the car (meaning I haven't driven the car in at least a day or two, not starting it within the same trip or day), there is a higher pitched howling noise from the AC. I always have the AC on by default when starting the car as I live in Arizona and temperatures here are high right now. I don't believe that I'd notice the noise if the car was started outside, but being garage kept the sound is very well contained and I can hear everything. Does anybody else potentially notice this with the AC/starting the car? I can tell it's the AC because I've tested turning it off while the car is warming up/the revs are settling down and the noise instantly stops. Occasionally this AC noise is accompanied by a slightly louder metallic/rattling type of noise, not sure if this is the AC or not but both are present when starting the car after not driving it for awhile. It's worth noting that these noises could've been present prior to my GF kicking underneath the glovebox, I'm just not sure because I wasn't paying close attention to things like this until that happened.
Lastly, I have noticed that the car is ever so slightly harder to shift when the AC is on. Again, this very well could've been the case prior to the situation with my girl, but now I'm just paying extra close attention to everything. I don't know if I just haven't gotten used to the way the revs fall with the AC on, but it seems as if at times it's more hesitant to slot into gear when the AC is on. It's also just marginally harder to start off in first gear as well, but maybe this is just the way things are with the AC on.
I know I could just be getting in my head, it's a new car and naturally I'm very protective over it and hypersensitive to a lot of things I otherwise wouldn't pay attention to. I could really just be overanalyzing everything but I'm certain she did make contact with that area under the glovebox. I could hear it and then as weird as this sounds, I sat in the passenger seat and tried to gently simulate what she did, and my feet definitely made contact right where all those components are. Aside from the minute and specific things outlined above, there is nothing else awry or abnormal and the AC seems to be functioning very well, even with the extreme temperatures in Arizona.
Any thoughts or input?
