Home. My dad was a contractor and we built our current house with a double deep part where I had planned on having a storage area for a car; just took more years than I expected to get an R! From the front of the house it looks like a two car garage, but one side is twice as deep. only get to -10 max usually, in the winter. (January)

Good points. Just checked. Build date is 05/24. I have always just rolled the car around a few feet every month or so. Never used Flat stoppers. However I've never had PS4+ tires.? I've read they can't move or anything past -7celcius, so I probably should get the flat stoppers. (if that's correct) Or is -10 or colder going to wreck them anyway? Always a trickle charger.
I think you’ll be fine. Just over-inflate them. I’d probably get the flat stoppers too ; Belt + suspenders approach. These aren’t particularly inexpensive tires to replace and the FlatStoppers are reasonably priced…and obviously something you only have to buy once.

I am part of the Wpg. cruise FB group. One person with same tires said (which is interesting)
"Pump the tires up to 50psi and place some interlocking mats underneath. Just drive on. The tires will sink in and leave the thread pattern indented. I have ps4s also but do it for all my cars."

Thoughts? Seems to be working for him. Easy to drive on too!

Yes, over-inflation to 45-50 psi is a good idea. These cars ship with their tires over-inflated to 45-50 psi from the factory (to help prevent flat spots during shipping).

In that pic, it looks like he’s using more than foam/rubber mats. He’s got an insulating layer of particle board (great idea) and some kind of cloth mat too (also good idea). Those rubber/foam mats probably won’t help as much as the Flat Stoppers, but appear to perform the task similarly.

Looks like he has the right idea : Get the tires up off the cold concrete, use insulating layers of materials between the tires and the floor, use a compliant material to “cradle” the tires so they aren’t completely resting on a flat surface.

Another fellow in Chicago (member CaryH…who got banned from this forum for some reason) has rolling “jack stands”. I can’t remember what they’re called and I’ve never seen them elsewhere, but they get the tires up off the floor and they cradle the tires. The rollers allow him to move the car around the garage as needed too. Here’s the thread… https://www.civicxi.com/forum/threa...inches-off-the-ground-bye-until-spring.52793/

It's not the car, it's the tires. (and history of cracking)Michelin actually has a statement that nothing to be done to them (including adding air etc) at past -7c. I live where -40c can happen in winter. $540 a piece plus installation. Every other car I've owned and stored, I've simply rolled it around every few weeks, but these apparently I cannot do that at my -c temps. Have you stored a car with these tires in temps like mine before?

Just park it. It's not a rare super car
Uh huh. Why even comment? You’re clearly ignorant about what winter storage is and why people may wish to do it. It doesn’t matter that it isn’t a rare car. Some people have other vehicles that are simply better suited and safer to drive in places that have 6 months of winter (including sub-zero temps) and roads that constantly ice over because it’s so cold that ice melt and salt does absolutely nothing!

Don’t even respond to him. Dude is known for snide comments since day 1 and it’s getting old and TIRED. (pun intended)

If you were a mod this forum would be like Reddit’s illegitimate cousin.🤣 jkjk

I mean, I get it…sometimes threads are dumb, but this isn’t one of those types of threads. Just because winter storage isn’t a thing where you live doesn’t make it a dumb topic.

If you change the oil, don't start the car unless you thoroughly warm up the engine. Moisture will condense in a cold crankcase per motorcycle sightglass observations.

You won't get permanent tire flat spots on bare concrete, if only sitting over a cold winter. We had an S2000 in New England for a few years on Pilot Supersports - no issues.

I recommend occassionally connecting a battery tender mid winter and then before removing from storage.

First post here. Waiting for my 2025. Should be getting it mid November. Nice to meet you all. Im 45 and lived in cold climates 95% of my life. Storing a vehicle in cold climate.

1.Fill you gas tank and add fuel stabilizer.
2. change oil if you need, or change in spring.
3. Add 5 to 10 Psi to tires.
4. Manual trans don't use E-brake. Either just have in gear or neutral-chalk wheels.
5. Crack windows open few inches to let interior breathe.
6. Remove Battery, trickle charge once or twice a month to keep full charge until spring.
Like mentioned above don't start your car.
Hope any tips help.

Good points. In the past I've used a smart battery tender on the installed battery. I heard it is better for the battery and you don't lose electronic memory from computers in the car. I still haven't decided what to do about tires, but have found 1/2" foam adhered to plywood pieces that would insulate and spread the contact patch of the tire more. No snow yet so havent parked it yet.

Hey these points are great. With regards to E-brake, is that because it cause the break to maybe catch onto the rotor after a while?

Seen them get stuck and held us keeping the pressure for a long period of time and not being released. Just easier to keep it in gear or the wheels chalked in neutral with no E-brake
