Pops and bangs, Burbles, etc. regardless what you call it this is a common feature today. Acura implemented the pops & bangs in the new Integra Type S (DE5) (along with many other manufactures). The extra exhaust sound comes from the overrun from retard ignition and extra fuel injection which burns through the exhaust system.

Now, the DE5 Integra Type S equivalent pops and bangs can easily be added to your FL5 Civic Type R using the latest Hondata FlashPro Manager Software and selecting the quick "Mod" in your calibration (This is a optional feature).

The Hondata F.Manager software also allows you to take matters in to your own hands by tuning the "pops & bangs" tables yourself in your FL5/DE5. However, remember factory protection is used to keep the catalyst temperature within factory limits. So some caution must be used if extending the duration and/or retarding the ignition further. If you do not have any tuning experience, you can contact one of our authorized dealers for a custom tune (and ask them if they can implement this feature) or you can simply choose one of the settings in the quick "mod" section that we provide in our software.

Parameters

Enabled - enables/disables pops and bangs

Comfort / Sport / R Mode - enables/disables for each mode. The Integra Type S only has pops and bangs in S Mode from the factory.

Duration - the duration of the ignition cut / extra fuel in milliseconds.

Tables

Base Ignition - the burn limit minimum timing by air charge and rpm.
Example: If the base ignition is 5 degrees and the retard is -20 degrees then the timing will be -15 degrees.

Fuel cutoff delay - the delay before the fuel is cut on overrun, by gear and rpm.
A longer delay will give longer pops and bangs but will surge in lower gears and use slightly more fuel.

@Hondata This is awesome! I know people were asking for this, so thank you for providing it!

Question - if you're in Individual mode, do the Pops & Bangs checkboxes for the different modes apply to the chosen Engine setting under Individual mode?

Hey @Hondata can y'all fly Javier out to Ohio to update my software? I still haven't pulled the trigger on a PC or Bootcamp.

(In all seriousness though, thank you for adding this feature--having seen @Jester04 's results, y'all did a nice job with this)

A cheap PC will get you where you need. No need to spend big bucks to work the software.

So with the tune alone you get the pops/bubbles in +R mode with stock exhaust system?

How do you select/deselect what drive modes have the burbles? I was under the impression if you select (Letā€™s say for this example) ITS pops and bangs, that you would get them in all drive modes. I very well could be wrong.

There is a selection toggle for each drive mode, tables for the drive modes have to be filled out for sport and comfort though. Only R is populated.

The Type S only has burble in its most aggressive setting sport.
