Hey all,

Long time lurker here from Australia, have had my fl5 for about a year now and loving the car. Also enjoy reading the forums, though it doesn’t help my bank balance at all!

So I installed the remark sports touring triple tip recently. First off the exhaust sounds great, nice deep tone. Welds and overall quality is top shelf.

My issue is that the valve rattles really badly when closed. It is loud in the cabin and sounds like the car is broken so I have pulse valve fuse for now.

I have tried re fitting the rear section a few times, reset the valve motor position, followed some troubleshooting tips from remark.

Have any of you had a similar issue?
I also wanted to hear from those who installed themselves, how much tension/twist did you put on the spring when attaching the valve motor to the exhaust? For me this needed about a 15deg twist counter clockwise and has firm tension on the spring. That should be helping to keep the valve closed but yet it still rattles like crazy with any back pressure.

Waiting on a replacement rear section so I can warranty it, but thought I would see if anyone else had any thoughts.

cheers

Update on this. I ended up getting a replacement rear section and using the provided remark spring, it seems much better.

Once the car gets hot I can still hear the valve buzzing a bit when closed, especially in carparks and against walls. It’s not really audible in the cabin though with windows up. About the same volume as the wastegate rattle.

Does that sound like normal behaviour from those of you with this exhaust? Do you hear any buzzing/rattling from the valve when closed?
Keen to hear who has used the oem spring vs the remark provided spring. Instructions recommend using oem.

Ok for anyone interested, I ended up trying a new spring which is taller and puts more pressure on the valve seat, which seems to have solved the slight rattle.
I used this mopar spring:

you can see the difference against oem in this pic, it is significantly easier to install in the slots correctly with the extra height.

Hi all,

I have had a few DMs from people with the same issue; so it seems like it is not as uncommon as the lack of replies would suggest.

I can confirm that 5months later the mopar spring has been working well, no rattles and the exhaust sounds great.

Thanks for keeping this info flowing!!!

I am in the market and have been consideirg this system. At least from the photos I've seen, the craftsmanship is top notch! Do you have any regrets, since you fixed the rattle, with this system? I am interested in a deep tone that may sacrifice volume and is not raspy. Do you notice drone at all? I haven't found many sound clips...

I am really happy with the exhaust after sorting out the rattle. It has a nice deep tone, not raspy, angry roar on WOT. Perfect amount of noise for me without being overbearing or obnoxious.

I had a dual resonator delete prior to fitting this and the remark sound much deeper, and a nicer tone. The res delete was great bang for buck, but I was never 100% happy with the sound.

With valves closed the remark controls drone well, and you can still hear it nicely. Tone is deeper and fuller with the valve open, but I found it drones around 2500-3000 under load. With a factory tune I stayed in comfort most of the time, and R+ for some more noise. I wasn't entirely happy with this.

I now use Hondata to control the valve and have got it set up nicely for my taste:
Comfort - as per oem. I use this on highway and with people in the car etc.
Sport - valve open, but closed at 2300-3500 under 80% throttle to eliminate the drone. This is what I stay in most of the time. Good full sound at idle and WOT, without cruising drone.
R+ - valve full open, type S pops and bangs... for when I feel like being rowdy.

Would I recommend the exhaust? Yes. It looks great and sounds great. Build quality is excellent. BUT, I am only really happy with it after upgrading the spring and getting Hondata. If I was to keep the car factory, I would look for something else as the drone annoyed me enough to stay out of sport/R+ most of the time.

Thank you! That is very helpful!!!

Informative tread I’m looking into exhaust too but want to keep the three tip configuration at least and also want them to be flush with the bumper. The last exhaust and only two tip configuration is the spoon sports, but I wonder if all this exhaust are necessary to install the pipe that runs under the engine? Or can be installed as catback. Even though isn’t a catback because you still have that pipe, I’m a little confused in this exhaust 🤣. But also if having this whole exhaust is one of the reasons for drone while in load on the engine, because I want it but don’t want to replace that front section of pipe even if it comes with the exhaust looking for a little more sound.

You would need to install the whole system including the front pipe with the remark exhaust. The flanges won’t line up with the OEM front pipe.

Thank for the clarification on this will keep looking and see what I can find but if I end up with Remark, I’ll buy the spring to don’t deal with the hassle of the valve.
