Sure, but ultimately it boils down to literally "move more, eat less". It really truly is as simple as that.

A calorie-tracker app will work wonders.

In all seriousness, join a fitness forum or whatever keeps you motivated. Anyone into fitness will want to help you on your journey. Most importantly don't give up!

Bump. There is a felllow on reddit that installed Si seats in his Type R. Anyone here done that?
Curious for winter use up here. All 22+ Si's had heated seats, so a retrofit wouldn't be too bad.

I am a big guy and I find the seats quite tight. I love my type R. I am trying to lose weight. Any suggestions for big body guys.
Hi, @Texas58 , and thank you to @J_D for bumping this thread. I doubt I would have seen it otherwise.

Here's my advice:

Skip breakfast.

... every once in a while, at least. You'll be surprised at results once you can start going 4 or 5 days a week fasting overnight and throughout the morning.
Over 2025 so far I have been slowly getting used to eating and drinking my final calories by around 8 p.m., and then just drink water for the rest of the evening. Don't eat again until around 12 noon for lunch. A good 16 hours or so at a time seems to be working for me.

Not sure if you drink coffee or not.

If you do, try to drink it black.
No cream, no sugar.
A friend of mine introduced me to ghee in the coffee back around 2022, and then after a while, to save money, I tried coconut oil.
Both are good.
Use anywhere from a teaspoon up to a full tablespoon per cup.

However, while coconut oil is currently about $4.00 a jar, purified unsalted ghee is over $11.00 a jar... almost 3X the price... for a jar almost half the size! ?
So I use coconut oil throughout the week, and I'll treat myself with ghee in the coffee usually once a week on Saturday or Sunday. ?

I don't count calories, and I don't have a scale.
No worries if you do though, because it looks like both coconut oil and ghee each have about the same amount of calories. So, while I am ingesting calories with my coffee, it is all just straight fat, no carbs.

This is just my subjective experience.
I don't even have a scale, so I can't speak on any actual weight loss.
My height is around 5' 10".
At my heaviest, I topped 190 lbs.

After drinking black coffee with coconut oil for the last three years, along with overnight + morning fasting most of 2025, I definitely feel better, and fit into all my jeans, except, of course, for those few pesky pairs that shrank... Y'all know how that goes.

I don't know my weight now. Pretty sure, though, that I have to have dropped at least 5 pounds since I started skipping breakfast 4 to 5 days a week.
It takes some discipline and practice, but it is not as difficult to do after a couple months as it is at the start.

I am a bit slimmer in my beer gut now in June than I was in January.
So there's an objective fact!

Cheers!

It mitigates some of the side bolster height issue, and it's Multi-Position adjustable!

About $90.00 each, ~ $180.00 for two, and right about $200.00 shipped directly from the manufacturer in Kentucky.

I would try this or something similar before spending tons of money, time, blood, sweat, and tears on all new seats.

Cheers!

I really did mean to make a thread on...
Swapping a CTR seat into a Sport Hatch.

Both are non power, both have 3 sensors SRS(Airbag), weight, and seatbelt.
4 bolts.
I imagine Si,ITS, S.Touring etc can fit with each other, just which plugs/features would you give up for which seat..

Excellent. I'm like going to buy a used seat at some point and retrofit in my R for winter use. The OE heated seats won't work as there is a controller in the dash to handle them

I'm a new owner, just got my CTR 2 weeks ago. I find the seats to really cause mid back soreness. Of course, I'm old, so no surprises there. Scrounged around the house and found a decent short term solution that the kids love:
