I can't find any mention in the Owners Manual as to where the attachment points are located on the FL5? All it shows is that a detachable towing hook is included, but makes no mention as to where and how it should be attached to the car? Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

The front has two tow hooks under the car, and the back has an attachment point on the rear diffuser towards the driver side. I believe you need to remove a clip to get to the tow hooks or attachments point, kinda like a little clip on cover for it.

The fronts factory points you're talking about are technically tie down points while on a tow truck or for transport trailer. They technically arent rated to be "towed" by. Most people may use them to winch from or tow from but thats at your own risk.

The factory rated tow point is in the rear only and yes you do just have to take off a plastic cover to screw in the supplied tow hook.

If this is the case, how is the tow driver supposed to winch the car up the tow truck from the front? Doesn't make sense that Honda would omit a front tow point since that is often used over the rear.

Like I said, you 'can' but doesn't mean technically you should. Winching from the "tie down" points is much less stress than say you're stuck in a ditch and you need to be yanked out by a snatch strap. You don't want to yank from those tie down points; very easy to bend that metal and subsequently, your subframe from that type of force. Also, if you try to yank from the front tie down points, the strap or winch line has to go under the bumper and depending on the way you're stuck, may just rip off your bumper as well. It's just not the right way to recover a vehicle.

Recovery is not the same as just winching up a trailer especially if the car is rolling because you're broken down or stuck on the side of the road. Years of offroading and recovery has taught us this, and also trailering to the track, as well as being yanked out of mud when you're off track :)

Actual recovery focused tow hook locations are tied into the crash bars 99% of the time (at least on passenger cars) - look at the aftermarket track-focused recovery tow hooks. One is the OEM rear, and the fronts on FL5 and FK8 is an additional piece that ties into the front crash bar that doesn't have an OEM location.

Here is a thread that talks about the same. https://www.civicx.com/forum/thread...ry-towing-points-to-recover-pull-a-ctr.63229/
