Hi this is my first post but i have a question. There is a weird metal clanking noise coming from my front passenger wheel area that sound as if i had a large metal thing in my tire that im running over. Ive looked at my tire and ive taken the wherl off and nothing is loose as well as my brake pads have good life and my calipers look fine. As far as suspension everything also looks completely fine. It only happens if im at 5mph or lower and its not very frequent but frequent enough that im worried. Ive also been brake boosting the car so i knew that would cause some issues but im confused as to what this could be. I also know its not a wheel bearing and the heat sheild and everything look good. Any help is appreciated:)

On other cars I've experienced broken ball joints and bad struts/shocks causing loud clunks.

Definitely contact the dealer. It may not be safe to drive.

Also, check for stones between the rotor and brake shield. Relatively harmless, but make a lot of noise.

I've heard something similar on my 2025. It almost sounds like a spring popping loose? I've only heard it twice in 650 miles or so, also only at super low speeds (like parking or pulling out of the driveway.) I think I was turning the wheel both times.

It's been a while since the last time I heard it though, so I'm hoping it was a fluke, but following this thread just in case.

I have had this happen to me on two occasions also.

When slowing down to a stop, its almost like a spring popping out from the front right wheel well, then almost like a light scraping sound for about a meter..

My running thought at the moment is that its related to the auto break hold feature, so i have stopped enabling it to see if it ever happens again... so far it hasn't...

Did you guys have this enabled when you heard it?

I don't think I've ever had it enabled.

Auto brake hold only works when the car senses it is on an incline…or so I thought

possible. my impression was that it was always engaged when stopped, to show the person behind you your 'foot' is on the brake

I did some further reading. You’re right! The auto brake hold does maintain the brake as long as the car is stationary (as a convenience and safety feature). I was confusing it with the Hill Start Assist…which is similar, but obviously serves a more specific purpose.

6000 miles on the odometer! I have heard this screeching clanging sound at low speeds and exactly as all of you report: twice while turning right to pull into the garage; once while slowing down on a straight road, coming to a stop sign.

The idea about the brake hold sounds plausible. I have gotten into the habit of engaging it pretty much every time I drive. I'll try it without for a while.

Thanks for sharing everyone.

Another vote for rocks hung up between the brake shield and rotor.

I've had this about a dozen times, but I drive on dirt roads more than most.
It will happen only at low speed most of the time. Turning the steering wheel will also make it louder.

I've never used the brake hold feature once and this still happens to me a couple times a month.
