Completed a full paint decontamination, 1 step cut, and application of CQuartz 3.0 and Gliss 2.0. The ceramic coat and top coat added a bunch of gloss/depth to the car. I feel better knowing there is some protection on the paint now. Will get in for front bumper PPF in the next month.

Also installed:
Hybrid-Racing shifter base bushings
Overland Designs alcantara shift boot
Matte carbon fiber shift surround cover

I honestly do not think the shifter base bushings did anything at all... if anything my shifter feels a little wobblier when in gear? Not sure how to describe it, but I really dont think there's any real difference. Will drive it for the week to see what it is like under normal driving conditions and likely revert back to the OEM shifter base bushings. If there is somehow an improvement that people claim, it seems to me more like a placebo than anything.

Which door stopper are these? I have the hinge covers on my car.
They are caps that go over the bolts. They are a Honda part, part #90651-S0A-003

Thanks for including us on your build! Th Fujitsubo Exhaust and Mugen Dampers are speaking to me, and I may just have to try out both 😶

At first I thought the dampers didnt do much, however after some more thought, the ride is actually very comfortable at speed. The reason why I initially thought it did nothing was that the car itself sounded very harsh on first impressions. The build ended not sounding more comfortable, but ignoring the sound, you can feel the difference on the highway. I think this is because the car stiffened up quite a bit and Im still on stock wheel/tires which is causing really bad tire noise. Going to probably look at beefing up to 275/30 or 265/35 to help reduce the noise. However curious about the Spoon/HKS dampers as those look very interesting too

Fujitsubo exhaust - just imagine how good the UNITYCTR would look with that on. Nuff said

The only mod I didnt enjoy was the Acuity stage 2 kit. It ended up being a bit too stiff for my liking. Hopefully itll soften up a tad and I'll get used to it. Honda honestly had some magic with that stock shifter.

Finally installed the front and rear calipers I had rebuilt and refinished earlier this year. They read a bit bronze in photos, but they're actually Titanium Grey. Logo's 5-axis CNC engraved, a mix of the Brembo Pista and motorcycle division designs. Fun fact: the "e" in Brembo is meant to resemble a motorcycle helmet. It's filled in with mag blue to tie in with the wrap.

Couldn't call it complete without matching rears, so those got done too. I still had the Paragon 350mm rear kit from my FK8. Once that went on, keeping the stock front rotors wasn't going to look right, different hat color, slotted vs. blank. So I had a fresh set of fronts ready to go as well.

Added Brembo NAO ceramic front pads for less dust than OE, reused the OE rears, and threw in Wunderladen rear caliper bushings too. Only note on the pads: less initial bite and lower overall performance than stock. Not a track build though, so that's fine for now. If I do hit the track next season, I'll do a quick front swap first.

Really happy with how it all came together, unique without being flashy. If you’d want something similar done, hit up @higher.coats on IG for the custom work, and hit us up for any braking parts :)

I'm waiting to finish up any mods that add NVH before installing those dampers, whether Spoon, Mugen, or HKS (not yet released). That way I'll have a solid baseline for where NVH sits at that point, and can actually tell how much it's reduced. These parts need to go in on their own, not stacked with other installs at the same time.

Did the same thing a couple months ago with the PRL SRS Rigid Collar Kit. Ran the RMM and PMM first, waited for that NVH to settle with use, then installed the collars. They make a real difference, cut down cabin buzz and give the whole car a feeling of being tightened up a notch.

We just opened a new account with a supplier authorized to carry Fujitsubo, so it won't be long before you see them on our site 👀 At some point I have to admit it's less about the shop and more that I'm just getting high on my own supply here, building this car for myself 😅 But I genuinely enjoy the process and sharing it, and honestly it's a lot more relatable when we're figuring it out together with you all.

Definitely wait a bit, and you'll enjoy the Acuity Stage 2 a lot more. The OE shifter is slick, but not tactile. I've got the fully adjustable shifter in mine and love the mechanical feel. Though these modern-era Hondas will never quite match something like an S2K, 8th Gen Si, or Acura TSX shifter.

Today I received my payout check, I got $45k for my stolen 2023 with 17,700 miles on it which I felt was fair. I loved my FL5 and am sad it's gone - it's the 7th time I've had a Civic stolen (2 '99 Si were the previous 6!) and I don't think I could stomach an 8th so it looks like I'm moving on from Honda.

Still in the debate phase of what we're replacing it with - I'm leaning towards the darkside of BMW, either a F or G series M car. I'd consider scooping up an S2000 but our other car is a BRZ and even though we really don't need space it's a hard sell, was hoping to get to the payoff of the FL5 and turn in the BRZ before needing to buy another car so I could have a little wider range of options.

I'll probably post the couple of items I have for sale soon - a couple shift knobs, OEM floormats, an AFD V2 lip (NIB) and maybe a few other random items.
