Congrats, I think the FL5 looks best in black! Any trade in involved?

Sumner Honda wouldn’t budge off $8k adm even when I offered to finance it/Navy Fed pre approved or cash it out $4k over.
Thank you. No trade-in involved. Oh man, when I called them about their car, they told me 25k over. I asked if they were joking, and they told me they would just let the car sit.

Just under of a month searching. I was able to get my R for 49.6k OTD w/all weather mats and wheel locks.

This is my dealership I bought 63 cars prior too for the last 25 years. After everything, I paid a 2k mark up. I am good with that. To me I was ok with that little mark up since they loaded up in my trade. This deal originally started @ 15k mark up. Be patient people.

Best deal I found in Florida :)

Good deal man. This whole process has showed me that a lot of people got bent over by honda over these type r's. Glad to see that you weren't one of those people.

63 cars purchased with the dealer and you still paid a markup?! After all those vehicle purchases, which I'm sure some you traded back in, I'm disappointed to read this. Anyhow, congrats on the purchase and enjoy the car in good health.

These must really be sitting now. I keep having dealers call me trying to sell me on them, some are still asking 15-20K over. I just laugh and ask if they have their head in the sand as dealers are lucky to get 5K over now, most are selling close to MSRP.

Dealers will always try to make a better profit. Just a matter of how much. There are higher tier specialty vehicles from other manufacturers which are presented anywhere from $50k-100k over MSRP. If the market allows/encourages and if select people are willing to pay, dealers will continue with what they can to get away with in padding their bottom line. The best we can do is walk away and look at alternative options or continue shopping.

If we collectively agreed, we could force them to discount. But with people here self-convincing themselves that a $5k markup is okay because of the wheel locks… lol.

And that’s on a car whose MSRP is already overpriced.

I posted somewhere else that a lot of people got bent over by honda. Spending north of 50k for this car before taxes is crazy to me but whatever

I finally got to test drive an FK8 Type R, and I'm glad I did and brought my expectations to reality. I know it's not an FL5 but it's impossible to test drive an FL5. Internet hype makes it car seem like the best car in the world and it's really getting into these dealer's heads. I think it's a fantastic car for MSRP. For me I can't justify paying 3-5k markup for this car.

Just a handful of Type R’s by me in a 50 mile radius. Seems less now than a few months back.

It’s not an FL5 - but the differences are so micro it’s actually negligible when it comes to deciding if you’re spending your dollars properly. Test driving an FK8 is good enough, as that’s a great car.

MSRP is the max this car is worth and that’s already pushing it.

Agreed. I decided some time ago that I'm not willing to pay ADM, nor am I willing to be taken advantage of by the banks. Therefore, this will be a purchase at MSRP and in cash only for me. If I can't find one at MSRP in the next few years, then I guess it wasn't meant to be, lol. In that case, I'll just have to convince my wife that we need a new Miata.

Well… I own an ND Club with the Recaro, BBS package - and it’s a better car than my FK8. Proper sports car can’t be beat, and it’s a whole lot more fun. It’s slower, but it’s funner. You can’t go wrong with a Miata, but I hope you find your FL5.
