Led light strips on rear door panels.

I have an addiction, called Facebook marketplace. One night before bed I came across a set of front panels, driver and passenger. You know the once’s with the led strips that look nice at night, Now why did Honda charge me 52k for this car and not include those 10 dollar leds is beyond me.

So here I am trying to attempt to put those leds into the rear passager panels. And have them work exactly the same.

So I saw someone post that Honda won’t sell you the lights without having to buy the whole panel, I think that stupid in their end.
So to remove the light and its assembly it’s a bunch a screws, plus 2 tabs that you have to break.

You are left with this

now the wiring part I haven’t figured it out. Yet I literally got them today, but this is the plug

It has 4 pins,
also I notice on each door panel you have these hole marks, I’m pretty sure it’s to wire the OEM pocket lights. But those things are ultra expensive so I’m gonna try to wire something else there.

This one don’t match the OEM panel they are gloss and at least on the FL5 is not gloss that’s why I was watching this tread.

Gotcha, didn’t realize they were gloss. They are original honda parts but must be from an si or something. Do you know if the shape matches exactly the front doors? If so, for those planning to cover the trim with a carbon fiber piece like the one honda offers, they could be applied to the rear also, in which case it won’t matter that they’re gloss underneath.

Ok so small update. The red footwell lights are the same unit as the led strips. same plugs

since i dont have a harness im going to have to make one, borrow power form the plug that is running the lower footwell led light. This should work and have the same on and off effect also voltage for that footwell light is 12v if anyone is curious.

i thought about borrowing power form the passenger window switch since it lights up but i don't think it will work the same as the footwell and front led strips. wont really find out until I take apart that rear passenger door panel.

This kind of a pain the ass just to get them lights back there but it should be worth is in the end. the led unit only uses 2 pins out of the four + and -

I hate electricity lol but this should not be that hard to wire into. just a bit of a pain having to take apart the door panels and run the cables.

Do you think you could trim the panel plastic? Or would you not be able to make it look good

No it won’t look good, you can trim the light piece, but I would have to make the slit on the actual piece to fit in the led light. It’s not hard, but I don’t have the tool to make that sliver of a cut. It’s a very thin line.
