Ok, we can't let the 10th Gen fam have all the fun. We recently posted over on the 10th gen forum data with the W1 Ball Bearing turbo putting down over 350WHP on our shop FC1. That car is a hoot to drive.

But, our 11th Gen Si shop car is no slouch either. It's been running our Gin turbo for about 3 years now putting down about 340WHP without much fuss. Last year, we started a project to develop a anti-surge compressor cover for the Gin turbo. Why? Well they sound sweet delivering that specific turbo whistle everyone likes. They also do as they intend....at low turbocharger flow they prevent surge. When balancing turbo design we don't want to sacrifice spool, but we also want big gains in mid range and top end power. So, this anti surge helps us overcome those challenges while hitting all our goals. What that means for you guys is a turbo that spools quick and delivers great power gains....and sounds good doing it.

Will this new design make any more power? No, this isn't made to be a power adder. We think the Gin is already perfectly positioned for a wide variety of applications. You can tune it to run from high 2XX WHP to all the way to low 4XX. Our good friends over @Two Step Performance have tuned the Gin to run at these power levels(>400) using a built block and upgraded fuel system. Don't expect these high numbers if you're on the stock block or stock fuel system.

Check the dyno numbers below. E30 and 91 OCT on a fully bolted Si with a stock fuel system. You can see how much difference Ethanol makes.

As for pricing, it stays the same as of this update so you're not paying more for this feature. All Ball Bearing versions have transitioned to the new housing. Journal bearing versions will make the switch later this year.

Any questions, drop them below

How much power can I expect to make on a stock block and fuel system without blowing it up?

Depends on supporting mods and how you're tuning it. You can run these all day in the low 3xx range without much fuss honestly.

That's a step in the right direction.

Trouble is the OEM turbo, WHEN TUNED, is far superior in HP and response before 3800RPM. A tradeoff that is not appealing to a street car driver. Show a side by side dyno of your tuned gin turbo vs TSP/Phearable tuned OEM turbo, it's noticeable!

I owned a Saab with a larger turbo, a beast on highways but a sloth when accelerating out of a corner, I hated it. The larger turbo ruined any fun factor of that car, of which a civic is so well known and praised for.

I feel the gin turbo and especially the rv6 turbo, are to big for the 1.5t. It's just to much of a tradeoff to justify. A lot of aftermarket companies get focused on the "bigger is better" mentality and end up going to far. It's noticeable the turbo is to big because the hp is still climbing when it hits redline, peak efficiency of this turbo is beyond this cars setup. Take a poll of who would prefer all around rpm performance instead of max top end. I would purchase if you guys made a turbo sized somewhere in-between the OEM and gin.

Who else would would be interested in a more "street version" only slightly larger than oem turbo upgrade?

Totally get the direction you're coming from. But, Hondas are meant to be revved at least we think so. So, yes the power band changes, but you also save those rods from that torque hit down low you get with tuning the stock turbo.

And if you've driven any amount of miles or tracked these, you know it's not fun pulling out of a corner with a smile on your face full boost only to realize you're not making any progress because the stock turbo is dead past 4K RPM and you might as well short shift 🙃

Yes, the oem turbo falls flat after 4k, it has an exit corner kick to a straight line meh. I was hoping someone would make an all around mild turbo upgrade for autoX, road slaloms, and precision lane changing through city traffic (i don't condone reckless driving ;)). Situations with very tight and narrow turns requiring instantaneous and predictable response.

I didnt mean to make your turbo seem bad. It's a great design with amazing results. I have your front pipe and inlet pipe and both are beautiful. I have 27won decals in my classroom and when students ask, i say good things and suggest your parts. Since you guys made two different turbos for the 10th gen civic, I was hoping if you were planning a second turbo option for the 11th gen to make one for smaller/city street driving.

That Chinese drop in turbo I've seen on eBay is calling your name man. The specs seem to be exactly what you're looking for, an intermediate between OEM and the Gin.

Not trying to derail, but what grades do you teach? Regardless good for you and keep serving our communities and our future as a society!

Thank you. I teach chemistry and physics for mostly Juniors in High School. At their age students are getting or have their first car and some are interested in upgrades. We get to have a lot of good car related discussions and then I use it to teach them science.
