Whirrin/ mechanical sound from dash/steering column at startup and shut down.

At 1 s and 6s there is this loud mechanical sound when I start up or shut down the R. I never thought twice about this as being anything but "normal" but my 23 civic does not do this and someone at the Honda service dept. thought it wasn't normal. They dont have many R;s come in though, and didnt want to waste a morning taking it in. Does everyone else's do this?

Difficult to hear from the video, but my ITS also does a sound when pushing the button to start or shut off the car.

Been like this from the beginning, almost 3 years ago and 22k km. Been the same since new.

Mine does the same thing. Pretty sure its normal.

That’s normal. It’s the solenoid engaging and disengaging the steering wheel lock.

I figured so much, but my 23 civic doesnt do it so then started wondering...(plus the chat with the service dept. without my car being with me)

Yeah mine does that.

Never knew what it was for sure though, steering wheel lock is an interesting one, every car has steering lock. I thought it was HVAC system something.
