This is just not true at the moment. People who are financially responsible and essentially "well off" will still be "well off" if we enter a full blown recession. The lower class and lower middle class are the ones that suffer., and they've been priced out of "nice" new cars for quite sometime already. I'm in Texas, there are enough 20 somethings with 100k+ tech jobs that prices and demand don't cave to "recessions."
Look around, I've been watching several other model cars as an alternative and I am seeing prices slowly normalize. It isn't going to happen overnight but we are on the way. Look at trade in prices, they are declining as well.
All the supply chain shortage are catching up which is helping the crazy demand. Look at the video card market. People were paying 2-3X the retail price and now they are about to start being sold for MSRP as the production has caught. Manufactures like AMD and Nvidia are seeing huge drops in sales resulting in prices being lowered.
