Yes.. I already know that it’s coming with a recirculating kit. HKS already knows it’s needed for this platform since they made one years ago for the FK8, and venting to atmosphere is not acceptable for Japanese vehicle inspections.

Someone requested the downside of a BOV and I’m just simply explaining it the for people that buy the HKS BOV and DO NOT install the recirculating kit. Which some people already have done on the FL5/FK8.
Gotcha. The question just seemed like it was asking about potential downsides of the FL5 BOV which is the point of the original post.

I appreciate and understand what you are saying but IMHO, regulations need to lax. They influence thoughts related to what modern society determines to be acceptable. We all have buttholes but let me hold or fart the way that feels or sounds natural to me. One way or another, excess pressure will always VTA.

My apologies, I should’ve been more specific haha. But when I said “not acceptable for Japanese vehicle inspections” I was trying to target those actually living overseas in Japan. That’s why HKS offers their recirculating kit to comply with their own laws for street use.

Here in the states, I don’t even think aftermarket BOV’s is illegal, or is part of any emissions or safety checks. California on the other hand.. I don’t know about them lol.

No worries...I enjoy the civil and constructive conversation. I just hope that a lot of regulated insanity and selective enforcement returns back to being more rational and fair to everyone driving.

Maryland is simply nuts though. You know when you enter the state because all slow drivers are programmed to the left lane going well under the limit while the right lane is completely clear. Passing in the right lane while driving the speed limit is not acceptable from what I have learned after being churched up buy a few local LEOs.

HKS vid just came out

Curious to hear the return kit with a dedicated aftermarket air intake and inlet.

The factory inlet was designed to reduce induction noise, and factory air intake doesn’t help much too.

Is there any videos of their new Air intake system that was teased in Tokyo Auto Salon?

Can't really hear much in recirc :(

They demo it venting to atmosphere and that sounds awesome but I want to err on the side of caution and keep the recirc, but if the sound is minimal, I kind of don't see a point (esp when I already have that HVI sound)

I forgot the guys name, but I remember seeing his video on instagram around 2 years ago. He has the HKS BOV with a recirculating kit on his FK8.

It was paired with an aftermarket inlet and air intake and the BOV was as loud, if not, louder than what HKS posted in their demo video. Almost the same as the vent to atmosphere.

$450 isn't much so I guess it's worth a try.

Yeah, not bad for the price. Literally almost the same price as FK8 on Evasive Motorsports. I wonder how much the recirculating kit is gonna cost since it’s a completely different design from the 10th gen kit haha 🤔

Edit: Just now reading the product page on Evasive and apparently it already comes with their recirculating kit. Saying “A suction return hose is included in the kit”.

His name is Chris or Kodawari_FK8 on IG. He's local to me and his is loud due to an upgraded turbo. I have yet to hear one sound like his.

Yeah, that’s the guy! Didn’t know he had a YouTube channel too lol.

Thankfully I also have a bigger turbo, bigger inlet with true 3” diameter all the way to the compressor and aftermarket air intake. All that should definitely enhance the noise, if I do end up running this haha.
