I don't know.
Sometimes less is more, and sometimes moar is more.

Those agressive side vent canards are definitely moar, and probably a bit too much for me. Like @Evox787 said, however, maybe it's just due to the red vs black contrast...? I dunno.

Then there's the anxiety vs peace of mind in knowing how well the vent canards are attached ... or not.

?) Do they plug into the wheel well at any point, or are they just 3M slabbadabbed onto the fender?
?) If they are not really truly secure, then are they gonna slip off the car at an inopportune time, which is any time that you are not intentionally removing them yourself?
?) Without the aggro vent canards, will your car be "Kustum E-Nuff"?

Life's questions persist.

My vote is for peace of mind knowing that if the canards are not even installed, then there is no risk of losing them. Kinda lame, I know, but that's how I see it.

Plus, I think the front end looks good without the canards and with just the lip installed.

Cheers.

To me, it looks good! If people put on the HKS, it’s basically the same concept, but the JDM purity somehow makes it feel better. I’m not a fan of the red, but your car looks great because of the way you’re customizing it, it really matches your vibe. It looks good the way you’re doing it! You are absolutely right why gate keep like some others that talk on having bespoke wheels or parts made just for them!🤡🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
Thanks EVO... The red is a bit bright, but i call this the playful stage. Where I experiment w/ a style seldom done. I struggle with sameness. Everyone literally builds their car the same, I don't mind pushing that envelope. From day one, this car was always going to be a spoon build for me. But, I know it's been done, and will be done, time immemorial. While waiting on parts i decided..... let's play. starting w/ my bespoke made wheels. HAHAHA so while I feel attacked, I dont. it's no secret if people ask.

Edit: in summary, and for a lack of better words, at the time - what I meant to say, is, I didn’t expect to see “sameness” so soon, on such a new chassis. If that makes sense.

Yes, everything is mounted. However, that's one of the problems. The company chose to stop being creative after the initial splitter mount design. The main splitter is secured. The side splitter is secured via the provided tab that mounts to an existing screw on the bumper.

where the concets falls short... the side spacers are a "press fit" plastic that mounts to the upright canard/splitter (yes, I've already lost a spacer), with 3m foam in between the bumper and spacer (wiggle room)..... The side canard/splitter is then screwed into the main splitter from the bottom. Problem is, this durable yet tender material strips easily, at 9mm thick, there's not much material to bite into, giving you that secure feel. You strip a hole? Side pieces are no longer secure. You hit a screw hard enough on the pavement, and the side splitter is gone my friend. My fix, was not bulletproof either, but the side splitter would have left the chat long ago if I had used the provided screws.

In the end, I've decided to leave it off. Thank you guys for the input. There were just too many variables to fix at this time. I do appreciate the uninterrupted lines of the front end without them. 😅

Awesome to know that Sharkiesha is just the Larvae phase of your FL5. She will be missed, but every caterpillar must eventually spread its wings.

Yeah, I agree with too many of our CTRs being too samey.
It is nice to stand out from the crowd, even if just a little bit.

Looking forward to the next phase.

Hmmm... "Butterflyiesha"??? ... or "Mothqueesha", perhaps?

“sameisha.”🤣…… I’m not sure. I actually plan on pausing this again. It’s really a distraction from my classic car builds. I hate it and I love it at the same time.

But I didn’t mention the best part for you: I see a couple of members here who think the same way! Also, if you don’t get something from Japan, they somehow think it’s inferior because they believe everything they have is better. 😂

I really like your build everyone does it their own way. In the end, you’re the one footing the bill, and sharing it is just for fun, not for approval.

Best part of being a grown up...... I don't care about brands as much as I do functionality. If any country makes it and it's durable, I'll buy it. Would I pay the extra coin for a trusted name brand? Certainly. Some things you just can't cut corners on. Feeling inferior about it? Well, people shouldn't, but they do. In Spanish.... S O C K S.

I love the guys with truly disposable incomes the most! They are the guys who buy cars simply to track them. That's a valid inferiority complex, to have, if any, IMO.

Thanks! Appreciate that and yessssir! I couldn't agree more. With one exception, as long as it's not the entire autozone catalog on display, I can dig it lol.

Maybe it's still too early in the morning at 9:55 AM? ... Nope. My Spanish just sucks.
The Spanish S O C K S thing whoooshed right over my head.

I don't honestly know if being loaded and buying a car just to track it equates to an inferiorty complex. I've never been to the Track or AutoCross, so I wouldn't know.
Probably some of these guys do have an inferiority complex, but many are legitimately there for the challenge and/or the fun of it, even if it is a dedicated car for track. Maybe even especially if it is a dedicated car for track...?

I also think that the same "inferiority complex" argument can apply equally to owners of dedicated show cars as it does to those of dedicated track cars.

Maybe I have an inferiorty complex because I bought a Type R in the first place. Maybe I have a Mega-Complex because I got it wrapped and got a bunch of wheels and some upgrades as well?
Maybe all of us on this forum have varying degrees of the exact same inferiority complex?

That's probably still better than turning your car into an "Autozone Showcase", which for certain just solidifies your "Clueless Complex".

Whoops, that was a novel.

(Inferiority complex confirmed.)

Love your outro.

In summary, I don’t think any inferior complex's should be formed around perishables. Maybe my comparison was a bit drastic, but at the end of the day, buying a track car to track it, vs parking it, would be the only valid form.

I’m not taking shots at either crowd, I enjoy both.

They’re a single pc rotor and blank. If I didn’t shatter my scale, I would have had weight measurements for you guys. Hand check, they are a few lbs heavier, not much but slightly noticeable.

Painted the hats to prevent rust, and did the customizations myself.
