The weird part is that Honda told various auto reviewers that the new civic was admittedly slower... but according to their internal testing it only lagged behind the 10th gen by 1-2 tenths of a second (a much more understandable difference IMO)... but now we're seeing everything from 7.5-7.9...
I'm kind of there with you... my lease is up around March of next year on my 19' EX coupe. I'm conflicted with this generation, though the styling has grown on me, and I'm waiting to see what happens with the hatchback specifically if it'll get any performance bumps over the sedan. But with no...
I definitely like it... certainly better than the sedan. And I can appreciate the style being cleaned up compared to the 10th gen hatch. Still think it needs spoilers... I'm sure the black lip will be on offer, but I think a black roof spoiler would really finish the back end off nicely. I'm...
I can completely understand upgrading for the sake of upgrading too! I've had MANY civics. 2 each of the 8th, 9th, and 10th gens (pre and post refreshes of each). So I totally get it. And the new styling willing surely appeal to some more than the 10th as well.
My original post was really just...
Calm down sparky... I wasn't saying the Type R was going to be a BAD car... it just wasn't going to improve (performance wise) over the 10th gen. Yes, refinement and other things like that will be improved upon and that may matter to some more than others. But in a car like the Type R...
Multiple things are at play... car and driver got around 7.5 seconds on their car vs 6.7 for the 10th gen. Weight doesn't help, but ~145 isn't enough to be the only reason. I think Honda's tweaks for efficiency are a bigger culprit. Eeking out that 1 mpg does more harm than good. Other things...
Unfortunately I think Honda is just kind of riding the wave until it starts to switch over to full hybridization/electrification. They're not going to dump tons of money into their current engines and just ride the current tech out for the next 5-6 years. Come time for the 12th gen Honda will...
I also thought about something last night that could also explain the slower speed... on dyno tests the 10th gens showed to be under rated by honda making something closer to 200hp at the crank and 176 to the wheels. It's possible when Honda tweaked the engine and transmission that the car is no...
I've mentioned this a few times after looking at the various spy shots... the tail light isn't full width, but it is... when stopped. The center portion of the light setup operates as the 3rd brake light, rather than having it mounted in the rear window (or on the spoiler like the 10th gen)...
Yep... under Honda US direction the civic took on a sport compact personality, under Honda Japan it seems to have taken the "premium and mature/boring" route in styling and performance.
Not sure why Honda bothers saying this is marketed to young people when they obviously would rather it sell...
Yea.... more than half a second slower to 60.... which could mean the hatch has a 0-60 of closer to 8 seconds once you factor in even more weight gain compared to the sedan... and without a substantial power bump, could mean the Si model is slower to 60 than the 10th gen as well.... Civic gives...
I do like the hatch much more than the sedan... the sedan is just way too dull in the back... the kia stinger vibes I get from the hatch are a big improvement IMO. I also like that color, looks similar to the Boost Blue on the type R... might even be the same color. Fake exhaust is kind of meh...
With a minor tune the ST is essentially going to be the Si hatch we probably won't get... what would be interesting is if they just gave the ST the Si tuned engine (minus the LSD), continue to call it the Sport Touring, and have the manual and auto available for those that want ALL the features...
I would say yes, that's probably the Si. VERY subtle changes, which is what I expected. A couple things that they noted have also been seen on hatchback spy shot models (either because there will be an Si version, or because the hatch will continue to use Si cues across it's trims similar to the...
Given all the new tech on the touring I think everyone was surprised as well. Granted, the LX also saw a good amount of new features compared to the 2021 models, and it's price increase was still modest.
Not wrong... every trim increased in price (the LX getting the largest bump) except for the touring which held the same price as the 2021 touring. That could have something to do with keeping the Civic touring well under the next gen Acura ILX replacement in price.
Not sure it will be this time... we've seen spy shots of the hatch with one and two exhaust outlets. Not that those might not be for other markets besides North America.... but I feel like we might end up seeing the 2.0L base engine at least on the LX model, if not the Sport model. If they do...
I’m definitely liking the hatch way more than the sedan. The shorter rear overhang helps elongate the hood even more. I do agree with most, a spoiler of some sort is needed. Hoping Honda will offer roof/wing spoiler(s) as accessories. Those would IMO complete the back end in a much more...
Could you do pictures/video of the light elements. I'm curious about how everything looks lit up. (i.e. turn signals, brake lights, etc).
Based on what we've seen so far, it looks like the DRLs also function as the front turn signals. Also haven't seen the actual rear brake lights lit up...
