This reminds me of when the R35 came out and it was shown next to previous gen GTRs and displayed how much bigger it was comparatively. Can’t wait for the reveal!

This has been very much a trend for the past 30 years. Increasing crash safety regs and fatter people have made cars much larger than they used to be. The new Civics are pretty large cars now but fortunately they don't drive like large vehicles.

I definitely think it's a factor. Safety crash regs probably share and equal amount of blame. I know if I was still driving around my old '89 CRX, I'd be a bit concerned about a collision with some of the behemoths on the road today.

Manufacturers learned many years ago that they had to make cars larger. The dramatic shift to SUV's told them that the American consumer believes bigger is better. They're simply following the almighty dollar (which isn't that mighty anymore, but still).

Fatter people, lmao. Let’s see some factual evidence to backup that claim.
Safety regulations, stability, addressing all the added tech, I agree with.

At a light last week a 1960-something Mini Cooper was next to a modern Mini.
It looked like a car with its baby brother.
