If for some reason I can’t get one, I’ll hang onto my WRX for a while. Would consider the GRC, but it’s kind of Type R or bust for me.

ditto. Its more of a want than need for me. My car can probably last me for another 10 years considering I drive about 5k a year.

I thought so too, thing is no have VIN to anyone name in the world ( besides Japan ? ) I guess I should’ve of use “ hopefully once theres allocation can take out 1k out of the card “ getting my card details ready reason for .

yeah thats why I was shocked they call me last Friday , I’m like in my mind “ wow allolcation ? “ but not really , is only getting putting genuine interest people to the next step . Oh well at least they’re processing and aware of it .
Typically Honda factory only provides the dealership the VIN when the production is complete.

I forgot to add that a manual transmission is a top priority for me and so it kinda limits my possible options to the GR Corolla, Elantra N, Golf R, and the more expensive GR Supra and the new M2.

Paint match front bumper would improve the look enough to make the design scheme quite tolerable.
I forgot to mention the Integra Type S, whenever that gets announced

And regarding manuals, if I truly can't get a Type R, I'll probably go Miata and an SUV for practicality

GR86 is also a great choice. Even though there are plenty of them being made dealers are hoarding them with crazy markups. I don't see this car making a 3rd gen when noones buying them cause markups.

Anybody had any luck with a dealer that isn't a total scumbag in Texas?
I have been talking to a ton since January up here in Dallas, most still say they don’t know anything or that they are first come first serve, and will only take deposits etc once they have a VIN. And pretty much everyone is saying markup, but haven’t been concrete about it. I have 5 dealers I am dealing with the most and they seem pretty decent, but waiting on VINs dropping to see how they really act.

The boxer engine keeps me from being fully onboard. Same with the Supra and the B58 (supposedly very robust and well built, but still German). The mixing of parts also complicates service, as Toyota cannot fully service the Supra Engine, and BMW cannot fully service it either (suspension vs engine components, etc.)
Car and Driver review, here

"...the Supra is a BMW Z4 underneath, so it requires BMW service items, which most Toyota dealers apparently don't stock. We attempted to get our Supra in for scheduled service at several different dealers only to be told they didn't have even the proper oil for the required oil-and-filter change. One dealer's service department ended up sending someone to a nearby BMW dealer to purchase the proper oil. When we wanted to get the car aligned at the 40,000-mile mark, we were informed it could be as long as a three-week wait while the dealer sourced the new suspension bolts necessary for the job."

Feels like it's headed in the same direction that Husqvarna did when BMW owned them for a few years. Neither BMW nor Husqvarna wanted anything to do with the bikes (specifically the 650 Terra and Strada) after the sale of Husky to KTM.

These cars aren’t very practical to me. Very small. Very slow. And with these markups bringing almost Type R money. Really like the look, but they might as well be 2 seaters lol.

I was giving an idea to the poster considering the mx5. GR86 isn't slow... they trap 100mph in the quarter meaning its faster than the STI and WRX. It will single handly walk a Si like its standing still and keep up with the Elantra N and GTI.

Yeah unfortunately every dealer in DFW I've spoke with has been quoting between 5-10k in markups. Thats over 20 pct for their greedy asses. I'll pay for accessories but Im not just giving it up becuase they are hungry.

GR86 in most of the country is simply scarce. The biggest dealers around cities like Pittsburgh and Cleveland, for example, have received less than 10 since launch. Smaller dealers (most) are lucky to have had 2 or 3 so far. I think 50% or more go to CA o_O .. MSRP is fairly common though, maybe half of all dealers in some areas. But you have to wait and hope you get lucky. No rhyme or reason to which dealers get what. Zero dealer trading, period. I've been trying to get one (single specific color/trim) since December, passed on numerous exact matches in my region with less than $5k markup as I'm in no hurry.

Most dealers I've spoken with around here are at $5k markup on CTR. My only deposit so far is with a historically MSRP dealer @$5k over. I'm 4th on their list and they typically received 3-4 FK8's per year so I'd guess 2024 is the soonest I could see a car from them. That could work out though, as things may settle down to MSRP by then and again I'm in no hurry. If I ever get this damn GR86 it should distract me from the CTR and keep me from doing anything dumb. The WRX is growing a little long in the tooth but it's not giving me any reasons to get out of it.

That should be a great car! But going by the price of the Integra A Spec, it would be over priced for what it would offer. I can only own one car at the moment so it should be an all year round car. So its either FWD or AWD and sadly no RWD.
