yup...i'm lucky because i work at a dealer and i have my car secured. but the fact nobody knows anything other than little info from local sales reps is the issue. i'm just hoping in 2 weeks when sept finally comes, then we have our solid info we have been waiting for. because that's when they told me they will have a vin for me and allocations open.
So when allocations open you'll get a VIN? Will you or someone be able to access the database to track the allocations of different dealerships?

hype has died? ummm what? the waitlist for the z is ridiculous.

people want it bad
I feel like the Z is gonna sell dismally. Hype has already died... one of those cars I could care less about.

i've been emailing dealers for months about the z and every single one has told me there's a list with at least 10 names already.... people didn't sleep on it they've been doing their homework. that car will be sold out the day it's here

This seems to be how many modern cars are released these days - this is nothing new. Just be patient! Everyone is used to instant gratification and no one has patience anymore 😀👍

I mean comparatively, the GRC and R have been sold out before there were even announced in my area. Not many people really talk about the Z in terms of the JDM community. It's just kinda there, in sure there are line ups for it but not nearly as much as the GRC, R or golf R.

Just for details..

A dealer doesn't get a VIN until the vehicle exists. I'm also not sure why he is clinging to this September first date... But time will tell.

While in theory, he may be able to see other dealer inventories (If his dealership allows him that access).. They can also hide it. So the information isn't exactly solid. Why would a dealer hide it? Maybe they have it presold. Maybe they don't want to talk to another dealer about it...

With all this waitlist shenanigans, I've really started to seriously assess my "Plan B" in case I don't get a Type R, and I've landed on a two-car solution: Miata (RF or soft top TBD), plus a Rav4 Hybrid. The preference is strongly for the Type R, but I thought I'd share my "this is what I'd do instead" thought. The Miata would be a manual, of course.

I have though about the Miata soft top Club Spec a lot, as my backup.
