I have the same issue on a 2024 type R. Just came back from the exhaust shop who confirmed the install was good and not rubbing. Very frustrating I have always had exhaust systems on my cars and never once had any issues.

Can you take the muffler off and go for a drive? I'm at work but I dont really hear anything. Does the exhaust come with a exhaust flap?

Not to shill at all but I have had my touring awe exhaust for 5-6 months and 6 thousand miles and I have had zero issues. Love the exhaust and happy with how it sounds

You shouldn't have to do this. A customer should contact Customer Support and their concern should be addressed in short order. There's nothing complex about this.

I was going to pickup the AWE touring on Black Friday. Wasn't a fan of the slip joints, but they have the best sound for the price. But after hearing about all the issues people have had and the poor response from support I decided against it. Also didn't help that 27won teased their system which sounds amazing and uses flanges. Plus, their quality and support is top notch.

Response from AWE on here seems like damage control for their failed support.

AWE seems to have great sound and I give em big props for making these in the USA at a good price. Issues happen to every company, that is fine but bad customer service is unacceptable

Our customer support team assists customers with resolving issues every day with great results. This thread brings up that there is a disconnect somewhere and my job here is to get to the bottom of it.

Trust that I see easily solveable problems every day, emails go to spam, customers reaching out to the wrong place, etc.

I am happy to be the traffic controller and assist in smoothing out any bumps and getting faster results for the folks here on the forums 🤝

My response here is in order to provide additional support to our customers and to problem solve, one of the reasons I am on the forums to begin with. 🤝

There are a lot of great options for the FL5 as it is an amazing platform to modify, I truly enjoyed our R&D process for that car, and it rips on track! I don't think you can go wrong with most options, and of couse that is your call. 🙂

As far as slip fits, as an installer I can say that they are the superior design in most cases. Flanges provide 0 adjustability of the joint and leak more often due to having to rely on a gasket in each connection. A slip fit has exponentially more adjustability and if they are installed correctly, provide plenty of clamping force to seal the joint. Being in the exhaust buisness I learned a ton of tricks to get it done quicly and effectively and we have a video with a few tips/tricks if you are interested.

My thoughts exactly, which is why I am here to figure out what happened.

We have a ticketing system, you fill out the form and a ticket goes into our queue and all customers get a response from support within 24 hours, every time. Our tickets are tracked to ensure this happens and the support team runs a tight ship.

Of course with all things human, stuff happens. Emails end up in spam, they get missed in customers' inboxes amongst other emails, etc so I am here as a bridge to ensure that forum members get the help they need. 🤓

the reason for "only" $5K is because my daughter is buying a Civic Hybrid Hatch from the same dealer this weekend.

decision is then more difficult, get a new set of tires and wait about a year for prices to drop below 5K over, which it might not, or pull the trigger now.

patience is a virtue

but it ain't one of mine

I might just have to flip a coin as many times as necessary to reach the correct decision

I am sure you have your reasons for the slip fit connections. They make manufacturing easier and cheaper. You don't need to be perfect with your jig or welds and the expense of that can be passed onto the installer who has to get the fitment right. The exhaust is smaller and shipping is cheaper. But don't come on here and blow smoke up our asses pretending they are superior. You certainly aren't helping your cause here and if I was on the fence you certeinly pushed me off onto the other side.

We do need to be perfect to back up our perfect fitment guarnatee. ;)

I am speaking from my 15 years of expiereince professionally in the automotive aftermarket as well as our engineerging reasoning behind choosing slip fits. It would not be any cheaper to ship or manufacture as many of our inlets must be flanged to mate to stock pickup points so we work with both styles.

No sway from me, hence my last comment. I am only here for technical assistance, and I jump in to provide an explanation as to why we do what we do, and to let you know that there is a mechanical reason, since you mentioned slip fit connections. 🤝
