Nice to see both of the wheels I've had on our shop FL5 made the top of the list! I've been running Superspeed for years on my FC1 and FK8 as a regular customer, and just started carrying them as a Dealer when we got the FL5. Tens of thousands of miles, track days, road trips. Zero issues, and they've finally offer 18x9.5 +45 fitments :)

First set is Superspeed RF05RR 18x9.5 +38 with 265/40R18. Stock suspension

Lol

I agree you don’t need crazy expensive wheels, but I do believe that you should buy quality brand wheels. There a a bunch of manufacturers that make excellent wheels without being mad expensive. With that said I would never buy a Rota wheel or any other cheap brands with poor quality control.
I recall a tag line long ago on another forum was, "Friends don't let friends ride around on Rotas." It seemed to be the go to wheel for winters or the entrƩe into aftermarket wheels in many circles. All jokes aside, I agree on the point of quality. That's my starting point with most endeavors, and if it happens to be expensive, so be it.
Yeah, Enkei wheels are probably the least expensive I’ve seen anyone on this forum use. It makes sense. Most people who now have an FL5 have paid well over $50k for the car OTD. At that point, another $2k-$3k for a nice Enkei setup is reasonable. It isn’t so much about wine and cheese, I don’t think. It would be kinda, I dunno, ā€œsacrilege?ā€ to put truly cheap wheels on a brand new $50k+ CTR…unless they’re just for winter or for beating up at the track. However, it is surprising to me the number of wine and cheese folks on this forum with multiple cars including Porsches who bought an FL5. This car must have the broadest audience of all time!
I get the logic and sentiment, but you'd be surprised. To some, cost is king and everything else is subordinate. I've seen so many iterations of this over the years from DIY lips, to poorly made aftermarket headlights/tail lights that welcome condensation on Day 1, to the worst quality carbon fiber. Look, people are free and clear to do whatever they want, they're spending their money after all.

To me, SuperSpeed is one of the most underrated wheels companies out. They lack some completely originals designs but the quality cannot be beat. I know quite a few guys that track their cars using those wheels and they swear by them. I only learned about them from a track prepped FK8 they came into the dealership for service. The owner was tired of the wear and tear on his super high end wheels.

Sidenote your car makes me want a set of RF05RRs

I will be going with cheaper work wheels for my FL5, don’t need all the bling when I’m just going to take it to the track and beat them on daily driving.

Yeah this is the only thing that puts me off superspeed wheels. But at the same time there is a lot of design copying from wheel manufacturers so its almost unavoidable.

I'll agree, the designs for the Flow Formed line lack originality, but they've been able to keep them at this price point focusing only on the strength of the wheels. I track the FK8 hard with the RF06RR's and every track event I go to there's at least 1-2 other FK8's with Superspeeds, and several BMW, Audi , Scion/Toyota, or other Honda's with a set on as well.

This. It's very hard to see any new wheels that are a total revolution, everything is the same or an evolution now.

If anyone would like a set, feel free to browse my site as I've configured all of the correct FL5 selections in 18" for the Superspeeds, and have been regularly sending sets to folks all over the States :)

@Clark_Kent Totally agree. I also look for quality first. I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon, but it’s a blue collar mentality that my dad and grandad passed down to me ; Buy quality tools and stuff and it won’t let you down! I don’t understand the point of buying poorly made, cheap, components. I may as well flush money down the toilet. In fact I’d rather go without than slap low quality stuff on my car, but that’s just me. To each their own!

As others have said, though, quality does not necessarily have to mean $$$. You just have to know where to look!

Yeah I agree, no way around it but they do have a good price for wheels.

Just got done with a track day at Road America with the superspeeds. Can confirm they are really great for the price. Saved about 5lb per corner too over the oem 19 setup.

Nice weight savings right there

They probably painted the logo, then figured out that the FMIC was placed in the wrong orientation. PRL engraved logo goes on the cold side pipe.
