After having a set of Volks on my STI and having a heart attack when parallel parking, I think I want to go with a less expensive wheel. Anyone have recommendations?

Alex offers wheel replacement for half the price of a new wheel. That was something I thought was cool while shopping for a new wheel.

It's amazing how these cars with nicer wheels don't have camera views when parking to protect them.

Define "cheap".

If you mean actually cheap I like Rotas. The CTR crowd appears to be a bit more wine & cheese vs the Miata community where I ran them on my NA for street and autox.

The CTR crowd is prepared to crucify you for not spending $6k in wheels and tires.

Lol

I agree you don’t need crazy expensive wheels, but I do believe that you should buy quality brand wheels. There a a bunch of manufacturers that make excellent wheels without being mad expensive. With that said I would never buy a Rota wheel or any other cheap brands with poor quality control.

Yeah, Enkei wheels are probably the least expensive I’ve seen anyone on this forum use. It makes sense. Most people who now have an FL5 have paid well over $50k for the car OTD. At that point, another $2k-$3k for a nice Enkei setup is reasonable. It isn’t so much about wine and cheese, I don’t think. It would be kinda, I dunno, ā€œsacrilege?ā€ to put truly cheap wheels on a brand new $50k+ CTR…unless they’re just for winter or for beating up at the track. However, it is surprising to me the number of wine and cheese folks on this forum with multiple cars including Porsches who bought an FL5. This car must have the broadest audience of all time!

Unless you can afford 2 or 3 sets of high-end forged wheels at a time, it really doesn’t make any sense for a street car. Track car is a different story. There are high quality wheels available for a lot less than a set of Regamasters, TE37s and Advan GTs, etc.In many cases the ā€œlesserā€ brand performs just as well or even better than the High-end stuff. I’m looking at you HRE.

Yeah! I run wedsport TC105x wheels on my s2000. 0 issues and they did not break the bank at $1700 for the set without tires for both daily and track use.

Lol I will give you that I’m a cheese guy not too much into wine.šŸ˜‚

The FL5 is just a great car, I guess why it has such a broad audience.
