Are there further plans to improve the stock car tune to closer match some of the other options like Two-Steps and Phearable?

Are there limits in fuel pump control or emissions requirements that limit the adjustments you can make?

It seems there a lot left of the table compared to some of the other tunes gaining 60-70+hp.

Ok here it is!!

Prior to installing the Accessport I had/wanted to uninstall the PRL HVI and PRL Titanium inlet. The Cobb Stage 1 OTS tune requires you to run the OEM intake. The HVI and Ti inlet are not bad mods or parts, the car just had way too much induction noise with little to no exhaust sound(stock exhaust with PRL Front Pipe). For this reason I will be purchasing an aftermarket exhaust in the coming weeks.

Why did I go the COBB way?
  • Extremely competitive pricing with their Military/Veteran discount
  • ECU unlock included with overnight shipping both ways
  • Great support and Customer service when I owned My 21 Subaru WRX STI and 2016 VW GTI
Monday Aug 5th - placed the order within the first 15 minutes of their FL5 AP going live

Wednesday Aug 7th - Received their ECU shipping box - Sent off the ECU within the hour of receiving the package

Thursday Aug 8th - Cobb received my ECU at 10:13 am EST and I received return tracking info at 2:49pm

Friday Aug 9th - I received my unlocked ECU and Accessport at 11:30!!

Now for the good part!

I purchased my FL5 without test driving it and honestly was very disappointed that the car felt slow.

COBB STAGE 1 93

Holy COW!! This thing pulls really hard from 1-3! Flooring it in 2nd gear will result in the traction control kicking in. This tune has totally transformed the car. Is it an insane amount of power? No, but it is a night and day difference.

Hopefully Phearable and Two Step Performance/Derek Robinson can release their own OTS tunes for the Cobb Accessport.

I would keep the mods and get a custom tune for them, sounds like an awesome experience going to contact my local pro tuner and go from there.

Thanks for posting your initial thoughts. I was on the fence all week weighing the pros and cons and for me the AP is what i've known for many years since they dropped for the 03 WRX. Living in the northwest we have several pro tuners in the area that are familiar with the platform like Surgeline and others. Great customer service and support for all the vehicles I've had an AP on. Pulled the trigger and should ship monday :)

Not a problem. Having owned Subarus, VWs, Audis, and Porsches: Cobb and APR is all I've known. That being said i guess i was kinda biased but i wanted to stay with tuning product that I knew and felt comfortable with.

I almost pulled the trigger when the Hondata Tour was in Atlanta but dreaded the 11 hour drive- roundtrip.

Are you now a Protuner with Cobb Tuning?
No, and will probably never pursue this avenue, since I have no plans to purchase a dyno.

Might purchase one down the road but for personal use and not at a retail location.

Awesome! I was a little late finding your order before it was ready to ship, but expect some extra goodies when your ECU arrives back home!;)
