Done it, hate the pump in sound. Worth taking it out. Or did you mean the volume auto adjusts? That I turned it to medium so not as noticeable since the fake pump in sound is out now.

How did you disconnect the pumped in sound? You take the grill off?

Well recommended, I just disconnected it. Takes maybe 30mins total and you don't need to pull the entire upper section out.

I really want to disconnect the cringe fake noise, but have learned the hard way how easily the dash is permanently dented/marked so I’m very weary about pulling the center section. If there’s a way to do it without prying on the center section I’d love to know how.

I tried doing it without pulling the vent section and didn’t have any luck. Hoping someone can show us if it’s possible but I have up before doing any damage.

I had to pull the vent. There's a screw there, you'll have to do it unless you got someone with small hands and can get in there and unplug it.

use cloth and pry tool. If you're having problems what i did was remove the side piece passenger side first then slowly pried out the vent all the way. What I mean by this is, there's this flat plastic piece that in the video he pries off at like 2:17. I took that off first. It took a thin pry tool to slowly get it out without damaging anything. Once you get passenger side out becomes easier to get the rest of it out.

Hi there. Just got done disconnecting the active sound control module in my 2023 Honda Civic Type R FL5 11th Gen. I purchased the Orielly Auto Parts plastic pry bars/trim removal kit that I think that someone mentioned elsewhere. I did not have to take anything fully off except for the glove box. Everything else was removed enough for the connecting parts to be freed. I did not have to disconnect any wiring harnesses or clips. Took me about an hour but I approached detaching the vent panel very slowly. I used a zip tie to attach the hanging wire clip to the other part of the wire. See attached photos. Thanks for everyone’s advice on this.

First thing I Did was unplugged that horrible corporate idea! I was driving home the first time with the car three months ago and I thought to myself “what the hell is that noise“ so after looking into it, I quickly remove that! And now the car sounds like the car, which is what it’s supposed to sound like lol

The second mod was the baffle delete in the exhaust. Follow the steps to unplug the fuse and leave it always open. Just sounds better.

So I never have to hear it. ;). and it's not that much work.
Yeah, if you want to use +R mode (there are reasons for that, like tracking), then you have to live with the noise box or disconnect it. For most, Individual mode and setting the sound to Comfort, is quick and easy without risk of messing something up when taking the dash apart.

It's actually super easy and there isn't much chance of messing anything up. I've had that dash apart quite a few times: Disable this, JQ Werks wheel install, short shift kit install. Actually much easier than most to get apart!
