Does The Type R Intercooler Directly Bolt Onto Civic SI (Just Intercooler Itself)

I'm wondering if the 11th gen Type R intercooler would directly replace the 11 gen SI's intercooler via direct bolt on replacement. Could be a cheap upgrade buying one used.

Has anyone tried this or know if it would fit?

short answer is no - it does not just bolt up.

I did it. This site won't let me post a link to my writeup. It definitely helped with heat soak so you get consistent power.

It's not a bolt on fit, it requires some customization. Have to...

1. Cut and bend the upper intercooler mount brackets.
2. Grind two small notches in the typer intercooler plastic to fit behind the bumper reinforcement.
3. Either use a cold side reducer coupler to the OEM charge pipes or buy the charge pipes by k&n (The PRL charge pipes are to big to fit the typer hoses over.)

You'll need Typer intercooler with both the oem end pipe connections and cold side rubber hose.

Looking at this diagram, I'm assuming I need the following numbered parts?

The main allure is better performance than stock while looking stock ... just in case there's any car problems under warranty, you'd think it would be hard to spot this Type R intercooler on an SI?

Just avoid the hassle and install the PRL one as direct bolt on, this is my suggestion you should not have any problems with warranty.

Does not bolt up at all, the intercooler piping kit is 100% different

Just avoid the hassle and install the PRL one as direct bolt on, this is my suggestion you should not have any problems with warranty.

After doing some research and chatting with PRL, I'm going to agree with this recommendation
