It's really just a matter of preference. At 19, I wouldn't have thought twice about modifying or removing things to make an aftermarket part fit. These days, I have zero interest in doing that. If a part doesn't fit like OEM or near-OEM, I'll gladly spend my money elsewhere.Just out of curiosity I'm wondering what the aversion is to moving the ambient temp sensor and unscrewing the air deflectors behind the bumper? Both are pretty painless and quick to do, and aren't permanent, and by doing so you unlock the ability to use intercoolers with much higher potential.
My FL5 is 100% a street car, and I'm well past the point of chasing marginal performance gains at the expense of fitment or factory integration. Whether it's another 0.75 mph on an on-ramp or getting to the next stoplight 0.25 seconds quicker, neither moves the needle for me. I can appreciate that a particular intercooler may have greater performance potential, but that doesn't automatically make it a better choice for my application. Fitment, engineering, and integration matter just as much to me as outright performance.
