Hey everyone,
I recently scraped the center rear diffuser on my FL5 Type R and started looking into replacing it. The part number is 71551-T60-J00.
I’ve been trying to figure out something simple but I can’t seem to find a clear answer anywhere.
When you order this part from Honda, does it arrive already black and ready to install, or does it come unfinished/primer and need to be painted?
Most parts sites say “not painted,” but that wording is confusing. I’m not sure if that means it comes as black molded plastic like the factory piece, or if it actually needs paint before installing.
I’ve also seen some sites selling the same part pre-painted gloss black, which made me even more unsure about what the OEM replacement actually looks like.
So if anyone here has actually ordered and replaced this diffuser, I’d love to know:
Also, if anyone did paint the replacement part, what paint did you use to match the factory look? Satin black? Gloss black? Something else?
This piece seems to sit pretty low, so I’m guessing a few people here have had to deal with replacing it.
Appreciate any firsthand experience!

- Did you install it as-is or did you have to paint it?
