Right forgot about that part. So 10hp up and 90lbs up from the FK8. Who knowsKeep in mind Japan and EU FK8 CTR was rated at 316HP, so its really only a 10HP gain. I suspect the NA FL5 will be rated at 316HP.

Actually, On July unveiling date, there is a FK8 sales figure released by JP media, it should be from Honda Offical PowerPoint for the FL5 release presentation in Honda welcome centre at Aoyama. it stated that the worldwide sales is 47,200 units. US accounted for 25,100 for 5 model years.FK8 sold roughly 7,000 units worldwide each year, so 10,000 a year seems reasonable for worldwide, not for just Japan.
In the first post by OP he shows the JDM spec sheet for the FL5 and FK8. It shows for the JDM market 1390kg (3064 lbs) for the FK8 at release and the FL5 at 1430kg (3152lbs). Which makes 88lbs difference. I’m not making up random specs for fun….The big news? A slight bump in the fuel tank1 Much needed.
The extra weight looks more like 30 pounds, not 90 as per FK7 post.
My '18 FK8 weighs 3,117 lbs. per Honda. FL5 =1430 Kg = 3,146 pounds. So only 29 pounds more for the FL5 than the FK8.
Compared to the LE, which weighed 3,071 per Honda...only 75 pounds more for the FL5.
So that small horsepower and torque bump should make this a bit faster car.
Seems like Honda has a winner here. Styling is subjective, doesn't do it for me, but more power, more fuel, all good. Wider tires that last until you get them home from the install? Yeah, that would be nice too.
Totally forgot about that. I put in FL5 values on the left and FK8 values on the right, assuming a 7K rev limit:The wheels are significantly smaller btw, so the gear ratios might not make a huge difference with the car overall.
US spec always weighs more due to additional crash equipment because of stricter safety regulations.Fair enough, certainly no insult intended.
Not your fault or mine that the release weight and the actual weight listed later by Honda - varied.
I wish my FK8 only weighed 3,064, but pretty sure it doesn't. Somehow - per Honda itself - it gained 53 pounds from the 'release' weight.
Which begs the question, will the weight of the FL5 change from the release weight the way the FK8 did? Maybe its a 'US version weighs more' issue. Just like the hp and torque varied slightly from the US model to the rest. One thing is clear - the new Type R is definitely is not lighter.

There was an Accord Type R in '98?!Actually, On July unveiling date, there is a FK8 sales figure released by JP media, it should be from Honda Offical PowerPoint for the FL5 release presentation in Honda welcome centre at Aoyama. it stated that the worldwide sales is 47,200 units. I know it was a small run, but I’m always a bit surprised how few people know about this. There was an Accord Type R in '98?!
EU CTR was 320 PS, which is 316 HPEU CTR was rated at 320HP
I'm not sure where the info in the graphic relates to, as it doesn't seem to show the ITR DC5 run. The ATR in JDM was actually the 'Euro R' (bizarrely), whereas Europe inc. UK got the Accord Type R powered by the might H22A7 2.2 litre VTEC engine. I'm in the UK and had a 2007 model in nighthawk blackThere was an Accord Type R in '98?!
