I had a similar problem.I paid the car off first payment and now waiting on a title so I can get plates and drive the car again.
Holy crap! I hope that's not the case. Well, New England vs Ohio ... I guess I'll wait and see.I had a similar problem.
The dealer's finance woman tried to warn me not to pay it off too quickly. She told me to make a payment or two first.
Her argument was that between Honda Finance and the DMV, if too much is going on at once, they might mess it up.
She was right. I paid it off after one payment, but Honda hadn't yet gotten the title from my state, so couldn't send it to me.
Lots of phone calls later Honda got the title from the DMV, signed off and sent it to me, but it took almost 4 months.
I hope your luck is better.
Call the dealership you bought the car from, they can print you another temp tag in no timeMy car is sitting because I don't have any title to purchase tags. My 45 day tag has expired. Honda Credit doesn't give you much information on this kind of thing.![]()
Within the month in the mail.Right, so how long did it take to get the title? ... is my question.
Thanks, I appreciate the detailed info. They gave me a State of Ohio registration form with the title # and VIN #. Maybe that will work. I'll try it, thanks again!Hey I didn't realize you're in Ohio! I might actually be able to help! Tags and title are two different trips in Ohio, and your missing title shouldn't stop you from getting your tags.
You'll go to the DMV, take with you your memorandum of title (you've likely received this from the dealership by now, if not, give them a call) and your driver license. They should be able to get you tags with those items.
Your title will come from your county's title division office. There may be a few in your area. Honda Financial will report a payoff to the title division, and you'll most likely receive a letter from Honda in the mail congratulating you on your payoff. Ohio has switched to digital titles recently, so you will likely not get a paper title. You'll need a paper title if you ever wish to sell the car privately, and the title division can get you one for ~$15.
If you don't have a memorandum of title (document showing you've purchase the car and financed it) hassle the dealership for it. If you're fixed on getting a paper title, hassle Honda to report your payoff to the state/get you a payoff statement so you can go to the title division to pick up a paper title.
These will all need to be done, but if you can't do them right away and still want to drive the car, you can buy another temporary tag from the DMV to get you another X days (60? 45?).
It’s all just back office paperwork processing and it’s probably automated. Communication is secondary. Pretty much the only time places communicate with you is when you owe them $. Funny how that works, huh.Just got it in the mail today! So I paid it off on 3-28 and so 3 weeks and change. Not too bad.
The weird thing about it is Honda Credit doesn't communicate such things very well.
On the bright side, they actually paid for your physical title (which they don't always do), so it saved you $15+ down the line--congrats in advance on your physical plates, don't forget to check in online before you head there as it'll save you some time.Just got it in the mail today! So true! I was forced into the loan to get the MSRP price, so a lot of hassle, and actually they squeezed about $300 bucks out of me before I got the proper payment info to pay her off, but at least it's all done now. I appreciate the info here, it's a good group! It’s all just back office paperwork processing and it’s probably automated. Communication is secondary.
