Lane Keep CTR

I don’t know how many people have experience with both the CTR and civic sport touring. But I traded my sport touring for my CTR. I will say that the lane keep on the CTR is MUCH worse than for the ST. The CTR only catches the car swerving about 25% of the time versus almost always in my ST. Anyone notice similar issues?

Not familiar with the ST, but I know with the CTR’s LKAS you have to be going between 45mph-90mph. Keep in mind it may not see all road markers depending on speed and weather. If your windshield is dirty, that’ll definitely affect the system too. Personally, I don’t like relying on the electronic nannies to keep me in my lane anyway, so I’ve never really tested it’s efficacy.

My theory is this happens every Nov-Mar. The low sun angle and long shadows play havok on the system. My lane keep works great in the summer, but it just started acting terrible recently. Same thing happens every year, for me anyway.

I find the LKAS on my FL5 CTR to be very good. It's also too good that I turn if off unless I'm on longer highway trips as margin for "drift" is pretty small. It's way better than the system in my wife Odyssey or really any other car I've driven that has LKAS.

LKAS is the one feature I make sure to turn off on all my vehicles.

I’m a dumbass and meant RDM. My RDM system on this is so much worse than it was in the civic ST. It isn’t a huge deal but just wanted to know if y’all have the same problem. Honestly I like RDM because there are nights when I drive where I’m super sleepy (not that often but it does happen) and just makes me feel safer.

@TchnoZ33 It’s all good. It’s confusing because the two systems kind of do the same thing ; Keep you in your lane unless you signal.

Yeah, driving sleepy is basically as bad as drunk driving. If you’re THAT tired while driving, you’re putting not only yourself, but others at risk. No bueno.

Radar cruise and lane keep suck on the Type R. Looked through the menu to try and turn off the radar portion of cruise but didn’t see anything. Anyone know if it can be turned off so I can just have normal cruise control?

Amazing that highly paid software engineers were allowed to release the Type R with such a garbage radar calibration. Feels like a drunk driving the car it’s so bad. I needed to stop using cruise control entirely.

@TDC50 Yeah, Honda’s adaptive cruise leaves a lot to be desired. It’s no better on our MDX either. Think Imma turn that off also. Here’s how :

Really? I thought the adaptive cruise on my civic ST was amazing, literally kept perfect center and did a good job adjusting speed. I haven’t had a chance to try it on the type R…I guess we shall see. I’ll be pretty sad if adaptive cruise sucks on it. When I had my civic ST, the cruise control was good enough where I questioned the need for ever having a Tesla drive for me lol.

I’m certain it’s the exact same system. If you watch that video, the dude explains the main problems, which I agree with : Braking when coasting downhill. Accelerating basically WOT when in the clear. I’ll also add that I don’t like how the system accelerates to keep the vehicle within a seemingly exact distance of the car in front you. I can feel it accelerating to stay within a certain distance, then let off, then on, then off, then on. It’s annoying. I’d rather just turn it off and smoothly accelerate or decelerate on my own.
