So my 2025 fl5 came with a freebie from the dealer in the form of lojack installed. Best I can tell is it installs directly into the factory obd2 port and has a passthrough port for accessories, etc.

The problem is the vtt obd lock won't fit onto it or lock on because there's no side table for the internal lock part to grab onto.

Is lojack worth keeping, or should I remove it and be better off with the vtt obd2 port lock?

I was going to remove the lojack at some point when the free subscription ran out anyway, but for now it's doing what it's supposed to.

It won't prevent theft though, just make recovery possibly easier...

Any opinions?

Thinking out loud:

VTT OBD port lock (which I have) is supposed to help prevent the car from being stolen in the first place.

Lojack is supposed to help find the car after it was stolen.

I'd rather prevent it from being stolen in the first place

I also have a kill switch and several air tags

How do you like the VTT OBD port lock? I've seen mixed reviews.

Lojack is so old school. Haven't heard that name in a long time! From what I recall back in the day not very effective if EVERY police car isn't equipped with the tracker.

If you live in a large city LoJack is worth it. I had my EM1 stolen in Denver (26 years ago) and they caught the thieves red handed in their garage disassembling it. Police ended up arresting an entire gang of car thieves as a result. Only downside to LoJack is if you live in a rural area.

not sure what's there to like or not to like. it was fairly expensive, it fits and was easy to install. seems to lock securely. have not yet had a chance to remove it. as a matter of fact, not sure if I even remember where I put the key....

Thanks for commenting guys. I pulled the LoJack… I was looking at the app for it and really the main thing it does is track my movement, stops, and speeds. No thanks.

I put a VTT on both our FK8 and the FL5 now. My gripes with them are both have the exact same key… and the design leaves the lock tab exposed. For the price I might return them… I saw an alternative at half the price on amazon that has the lock tab on the side enclosed completely. I don’t really know if I want to hassle with all that… but might be worthwhile to get two locks for the price of one vtt instead… I’ll update or make a separate post if I do.

Quite a bit, which is why I'm asking. Overall, the reviews are positive; however, I've read the following criticisms: difficult to install relative to others, overpriced for what it is, fitment is not great - not securely affixed to the OBD port, not as secure as advertised - security bolts can be defeated with flush cutters. And there's other commentary that isn't particularly flattering.

Are you experiencing any of the aforementioned? Anything worth mentioning not listed above? Are these issues application specific? In other words, perhaps these issues do not apply to the Civic or Honda more broadly.

Thank you, this is exactly what I'm looking for. Which alternative?

This one: Limited-time deal: OBD2 Port Immobilizer Tool for Car/SUV/Truck OBD2 Port Protector, OBD2 Lock Immobilizer Protector (Black) https://a.co/d/ixDzfOH

I have them in my cart now. I think I’ll just order them and return whichever fits worse. As for the two I got, white they do have the same screw and key, there’s no way flush cutters are grabbing those screws. Mine are tiny notches keyed in. I’ve seen pics of others with oblong star shapes and things like that. They must have a certain few types they’re making.

I’m curious if the cheaper option that covers the tab will have unique keys or just a generic special bit that they ALL use.

At least the VTT seems to have many keys… or to say more than a few that I can see in pics.

I chose this one early last year. It has served me well in that I still own the car LOL.
Machine aluminum and super tight tolerance. So tight in fact that I thought I was sent the wrong one because you have to have it lined up perfectly and square in order for it to slide over the port. Locking bolt is not easily accessed. You can tighten the bolt with as much force as you like

No, I did not find it difficult to install, it is expensive, I found the fitment to be fine as it does seem to be securely attached. the security bolts are recessed into the cover, I am not sure how they can be cut.

I have to admit that, at the time I purchased it, I did not not do a lot of research for alternatives, it was about a year ago, and I just purchased the car and was kinda freaking out about the possibility of someone stealing it... I also got a kill switch, a Faraday bag for the key fob, and a device that locks the steering wheel to the brake pedal. also two Apple AirTags hidden in the car, with one more visible as a decoy.

I did a quick search just now, most reviews seem to like the VTT, it seems to be top choice in the few comparisons/review I've round

I found no mentions of the criticisms (other than price) you mention above. it does not mean that the criticisms are not somewhere on the internet, it only means that a quick search did not find them...

I am frequently in areas where wheel/vehicle theft is a very real possibility, I opted to go with Compustar t13 and IGLA. Flat out basically the only way to steal the car is with a lift.

IGLA goes into service mode if it needs to go to a shop for some reason. Else they cant start it. CAN bus is protected by IGLA, thieves cannot pull a headlight to tap the bus they cannot access key programming they cant do anything related to the car computer.

I also carry my fobs in a Faraday pouch.

I'd check that's a police even have the capability to check LoJack in your area. I had a vehicle with LoJack stolen in a major city in the local police department did not have access to LoJack nor did they triggered LoJack to track the vehicle

How much for the IGLA install?

Thinking about doing the same between the vehicle being stolen the wheels and now the damn airbags I swear sometimes end up leaving my car at home and walking 😂

Also to add i habe the VTT lock.

Just remember anything you add is just another layer of security that thieves have to bypass. Nothing will completely prevent them from taking your vehicle, each layer slows them down.
