about 6000 rpm in 4th, went for 5th and somehow put in in 3rd… I had the auto rev match on at the time. when I released the clutch in 3rd it hit redline and engine braked hard. I grabbed the clutch as soon as I realized. No lights no warnings nothing when it happed and everything seems completely fine since. Should I be worried about problems to come ? Thanks

You're fine. However, some ECUs will log over rev as a permanent field. Not sure about Honda.

Honda does log overrevs. May cause an issue with warranty further down the line, however unlikely since these cars seem to mechanically hold up well when stock. If you're tuned, the ECU flash counter is triggered anyways.

Also for science, how far past redline did you go? I money shifted my NA Miata on track and it saw 8900rpm 😅

Just be prepared for them to deny an engine warranty claim if it does happen due to the overrev. We've seen them do it before to people due to this.

Isn't the auto rev match designed to prevent over-rev/driveline abuse from over-rev?

if your valves would have hit the pistons you would have known very soon after, and a CEL would have lit. You are likely safe.

I don't think it matters in a mechanical overrev and would supersede any rev matching the ECU is trying to set the engine rpm to.
