Hey everyone! I'm Tolga, nice to meet you all.
New owner of a 2023 Type R. Looking to meet new friends on here.

I used to have a turbocharged 2007 Civic Si (8th Gen); sadly it got stolen in 2015 :(
It was putting out 315whp and about 250 torque. So much fun!

Nearly 20 years later, I purchased a 2023 Type R, and couldn't be happier!
Drove this beauty from IN to TX, it is smooth and aggressive.
It appears the prior owner was an enthusiast too because it has some minor upgrades.
Watch the 360 view video (it's not me in the video, lol)

1. PRL Intake
2. AWE Full catback exhaust (I think track edition, it's loud! w/ the black tip)
3. Carbon Fiber steering wheel
4. Carbon Fiber engine cover (not sure what this is called lol)
5. Some other interior/exterior upgrades.

Welcome to the other forum lol
:D Thank you kind, sir. I had so much fun being on the 8thcivic forum during FG2 days, met really cool people. We used to have chill meet ups and just cruise around.
Hoping to do the same here eventually.

Congrats and welcome! Love that color especially under a bright sun.
Thank you! My favorite color is red but the blue was mesmerizing! At least the interior is red mostly! 😁

Is anyone able to tell me from the engine bay photo if I have a BOV?
Finally went on a cruise with the windows down since purchase and pretty sure I saw my boost gauge read 17 psi, is that normal? Still got a lot to learn about this car.
Be patient lol 😆

You don't have a traditional bov, it's more like a bypass/recirv valve. It's that little black thing to the left of the turbo. So no big wooosh sound.

26 is peak on stock, but the ECU adjusts psi to reach its desired torque value, so normal for this time of year id assume, I hit 13-14 normally in winter as reference. You'll see that 26 more when it's hot.

A cursory glance at your engine bay, the only thing not stock looks like the intake. Outside is just body panels (the extra curve on the air guides in rear and front), duckbill and roof spoiler, cf mirror caps, the rain guards, and ofc the steering wheel.

Id probably pull that roof spoiler off though, not sure how much it effects the wing, but it's pushing air away from the wing. You paid for the wing, you wanna use it!

Thanks brother I really appreciate you looking and providing feedback.
The whoosh is quite noticeable but I'm not sure what an actual one sounds like lol and how loud it really is.
I'll do some research 😁🫢

An aftermarket intake really emphasizes how loud the plumb back of the bpv is into the intake, and the open intakes like the MST i have on my car is even louder.

That made sense to me after using my best friend (ChatGPT) to break it down for me LOL (Don't Judge! It's been a while since I talked cars)
So does that mean technically a BPV is better than a BOV? Which is the most preferable?
What did you mean by open intake, is it without the cover around the filter?

Yeah where the box is open and the filter is exposed, the oem unit and intakes like the prl are closed, which technically makes your static intake air temps better, however once you start to accelerate it doesnt really matter too much imo.

As for the bov/bpv, the factory setup is with the bpv in mind so its best to keep it that way if you dont intend on tuning the car, however, when the car is tuned you can opt for either option. BOV are cool for the traditional sound factor and being loud, but i can say, with my intake being what it is, you would think i have a bov on my car lol

I'm genuinely surprised how noticeable the wooshing sound is compared to when I had a boosted FG2 w/ an actual BOV. I'm happy it's not terribly loud. Not sure how Texas police is, but when I lived in Cali, they were the biggest jerks!

I got out of so many tickets and mechanical violations for being in the military back then.
Should have seen the look on my face when I got a triple violation ticket dismissed by the judge: Improper Carpool lane use, Intake/Exhaust violation, and tints. (good ol' liberal cali lol), don't think any of that would fly in TX! :D
