Hello everyone. I wanted to know if this sound was normal. I can’t recall if the car has always had this or if I’m now just noticing. The car has a whine between 2/3k RPM that sounds like I’ve got straight-cut gears. The car shifts and drives fine. I’m FBO, RV6AS on E50. I’m also running Amsoil transmission fluid. I know it’s not the turbo because I’m not in boost when this sound occurs. The sound doesn’t occur in neutral or when revving.

Definitely hear it, and I don‘t recognize it as a sound I have in my car. So is it speed related or only RPM related?

I can hear it in 5th and 6th gear (not as loud), and yes, in between 2/3K rpm. I do also have a RMM, so I don’t know if that’ll cause the sound to be more pronounced, as I know our cars do have that LSD whine.

No whine in my car. I have a RMM too. 27,000 miles never heard that noise

the LSD whine isn't that loud. sounds like worn out/damaged gears. i get deceleration whine in lower gears but nothing like that.
