I spoke with the GM, he apologized. He did try to tell me it's impossible to get it perfect, but understood where I was coming from. He said he has spoken with high-end shops and they told him it's very difficult to get it absolutely perfect. I'm fine with speck, but not 10+. He offered a few options.

1) Wait until the end of the year when their "clean" environment was ready
2) Redo what needs to be done on a Saturday when there are less people in and out of the space.
3) Refund my money

I chose 2. I really want them to make it right. Some of the panels are done well. The front bumper is the worst. There are some spots on one of the headlights, and I found some on a side skirt. I will develop a list and go from there. The money isn't the issue. I just want it done right.
I gotta say, given they gave you the option of refunding the money, I'd have gone that route.

People make mistakes but I don't have a high degree of confidence in that shop given what you mentioned. There's plenty of installers out there that don't have a sterile "clean room" and manage to do a good job. It sounds like sloppy prepwork to me.

Unfortunately, around here, there are no good installers. I've seen the work of another local place and it's even worse. I want it done, but my options are limited. I just can't accept how it looks. It would drive me crazy everytime I looked at it.

Just wait for clean environment. Why the rush. You can still drive with specks.

It's more than just some dust. Parts of the bumper don't go to the edge, which runs the risk of getting rock chips.

I'm speaking with the supervisor of the department tomorrow. If he feels like he just can't meet my expectations, I will ask for a refund and figure something else out.

Makes sense, good luck! I know the feeling, I didn’t wanna drive the car for a week I didn’t have ppf when I purchased it.

my guy did a good job actually wrapping a ton of edges even with a pre cut but its not possible to do all of them and can't expect it to go perfectly to the edge. But also it should be close. He told me the first one he cut on the plot and put on the car was hella short so he had to extend and cut again.

Personally i woulda taken the refund and run away with it and live with it. Remember the ppf is gonna get beaten up and in a year or 2 there will be marks on the ppf that is way worst than the little dust and you just got a free ppf job.

Thats just me but then again you haven't posted pics so maybe this is so bad that it would be hard to live with .

The car is in the garage and hard to get solid pics. There are issues that probably won't be captured in the pics, such as the waviness. That is definitely heat gun related. The debris will be hard to see, but it's definitely there. You can completely feel all of the specks when I run my hand over it. Some things I could live with. The bumper is a no go.

The problem with getting a refund is that you now have to take it to another installer who is going to charge you extra to remove the old PPF so you're still going to be out-of-pocket more money.

I'd be good with a redo assuming they get it right.

I will guys. Relax. I just haven't had a moment to pull it out of the garage to get it into decent light. Like I said, some things will be hard to pick up in pictures.

Posting up a variety of pics showing debris, cuts that don't go to edge, a piece that has a slice in it, and one that shows waviness. There is more, but these are examples.

Ya doesn’t look great, I highly doubt they can do a better job, it seems like a skill issue. No shame in that though, I know if I did it, it would look a lot worse. That being said I don’t tell people I can do it and charge for it.

This is worse than I had imagined. And yes, this is unacceptable. I would not give them another crack at it. I would have opted for a refund and sought out another shop to do this work. Sure it will likely cost you more in the long run since the shop will need to remove the current ppf and reapply, but at least you will have it done properly. Chalk it up to a lesson learned and move on.

You mentioned you're in Upstate NY. Where exactly? Buffalo? Rochester? Syracuse? If you went with XPEL, add STEK and SunTek dealers to the consideration set. You may also need to travel some to find a better shop. Good luck and I hope you get this sorted to your satisfaction.

This will drive me crazy lol. I don't care for PPF too much but if I paid that much to have work like yours done. I'd be pissedšŸ˜‚

Take the refund and go somewhere else.
