has anyone tried to do a dual channel dash cam installation? Specifically the rear channel? The shop usually take my car to says that with the hatchback design there’s no clean way of installing it because the rear panels are designed in such a way that it prohibits installation. Anyone have experience with this?

I had mine professionally installed and while I can't specifically tell you how they worked it my installer figured it out. He did however comment it was kind of a pain in the a$$ to do .

I bought one of these and mounted it on the rear headliner. Not as clean but way simpler to install. I tried to run the wires through my hatch and gave up after 2 hours lol.
how does it look with these mounts? I’m not in love with the idea of undoing all this trim and weather stripping. I feel like it’s a recipe for future rattles tbh. I’m more interested in function vs form.

Did you guys hardwire it or just connect it to the 12 volt?

I am going to install mine in in a week or so, you gotta hardwire it, you don't want the 12v plug showing + you want parking mode.

As far as rear, not gonna do it because too lazy to figure it out (car is not a daily otherwise I would absolutely do front and back) but look at youtube there are at least 3 videos on how to do it (also can search for just regular civic as it should be very similar.

It seems there are 2 ways to do it, one go through the roof liner and one through the side. The part that looks like a pain in getting it into the hatch but its doable and a good shop should have no issues doing so.

I would not trust anyone to do it though so I would do it myself

Yeah, the front is very doable. The rear seems to be a pain if you want it done “professionally” as the shop I went to put it. I personally don’t mind the wire hanging a bit. I

Running the wire for the rear dash cam was a huge pain, but it's doable. My cable runs up the grommet on the drivers side, across the back hatch, down the channel for the rear wiper that's on the passenger side, and out of that little rectangle piece in the center that Lui Rivera used. I used a dremel to just ever-so-slightly round out an opening so the cable sheathing wouldn't be cut, and I used an endoscope to see how the bends and obstructions in that channel were, which really helped me. Install time took about two hours doing it myself, and at least half of that was spent figuring out that rear camera installation.

I'm honestly shocked that a professional installation place said there's no way to do it cleanly. There is.... it's just a massive pain in the butt.

The plastic around the rear window is so tight that some rear dash cam wires are not tuckable - this is what I ran into with my Thinkware U1000 rear cam wire.

The wire for the Blackvue camera looks to be thinner and its possible to tuck that one.

I ended up using plastic clips with 3m tape to hold the wire near the window - its out of the way, not hanging down, but doesnt look as good as if it was tucked. I did remove the rear trim as much as I could to get the wire through the grommet, etc. Use some electrical lubricant (idk what they call this stuff) to push it through the grommet and on your wire pull.. it was pretty easy to do.
