Does anyone have detailed information about what the repair will actually entail? If it's a faulty weld to the floor board (?), do they fix it with an anchor bolt similar to bolt-in roll cages? Or, if it's a bad weld within the rail(s), do they just swap out the lower and/or upper rails? I've never taken a seat out to even know how they're constructed, and although I've tried to examine the area, it's really difficult to see where the problem might be. Like others, I'm also wondering how much experience the Honda Techs have with this problem given the low sales volume for CTRs, and based upon PDI stories of failing to remove transport springs, I'm less than confident about a reliable repair, but that's just me....

nobody will know, they have not given us a parts list yet...it'll probably be just the bottom seat cushion frame

To those with squeaky seats, did it happen from day 1 or did it slowly develop? I'm only like 1 week into ownership and kock on wood, no squeaking yet. Also a higher VIN #, xxx11100 , so think I'm safe ?

That’s where I’m at. I’ve seen a few pics of seat frame replaced due to the squeak (not for the recall), and the seat covers were loose and crinkling, and one with dirty hands all over the seat.

Just because you might not have the noises doesn’t mean you don’t get it replaced

Exactly. Squeeking is only a symptom of the problem, not the cause of the problem.

it's more of a safety and liability issue for Honda...
look at it similar to standing behind the yellow caution tape at Home Depot while clearly forklift is not lifting anything...I guess? really no safety issue, but it has to be done so Honda can cover their asses ?

Well, actually…Honda is saying that it is definitely a direct safety problem and even issued a stop sale. So I think it is a smidge more serious than a liability-yellow-tape-at-Home Depot thing.?

Imagine getting T-boned by a drunk driver and the seat doesn’t support your body correctly. Because of that, your back is now broken. If you’ve ever had even a minor back injury, then you know how serious this could be. While maybe not on the same safety level as the Takata airbag debacle, I wouldn’t ignore it.

For those dragging their feet : With recalls like this (from what I’ve seen), the replacement parts are sent along with step-by-step instructions to help ensure the technicians install the parts correctly. Honda knows that technicians are not assembly line workers, though they should be able to follow directions just the same. Keep in mind that the dealerships are also liable for correct installation.
