Hi all! The left bolster on my driver’s side seat has some tears in it, I assume from getting in and out with my keys on my belt loop. Not sure what the best path forward for repair is here. Anyone have any experience with this? See photos for damage.
Thats a gnarly tear, your best bet is to find someone to reupholster it, that or replace the seat altogether. You could also just slap a seat cover on it and call it a day.
If I were in your position I wouldn't get it reupholstered, I'd just buy myself a new one and maybe keep the old one as a backup
Check with dealership used car managers. My cousin used to repair interiors on dealership used cars. He worked with several dealerships repairing cloth, leather, dashboards, door cards, etc.
I assume similarly talented persons are in your area.
Check with an upholstery shop first and see what the cost will be and the finished product. As a backup option you can always replace the seat cover. It should run you about $675.
I say get an iron-on patch - red suede if you can find it, or something tougher. Make it look purposeful. I figure it's already ruined, and it's going to happen again. Save the replacement seat for when you sell it.
