Hey guys, I'm getting a grind very reminiscent of the FK8s, but it seems like I'm the only one? I'm at a little over 2k miles, but it's happened from the start.

If I shift 1-2 decently quickly with rev match on, it will grind 100% of the time, even at 3k rpm. I can shift slow enough to guarantee that my foot is all the way to the floor before moving the shifter at all, and it still happens.

With rev match off, it will generally only grind at fast redline shifts, but it's still basically guaranteed.

I guess I'll try new mtf as well, but I'm wondering if it's even worth bothering to take it to the dealer? It seems like nobody had luck with that on the FK8

I had the occasional 4th gear lockout on my FK8, but it's been completely eliminated with the use of the ACDelco FM MTF. So far so good after being on it for a few thousand miles. We'll see how resilient this GM fluid is and if the problem will ever return. If you go the repair route, you'll need someone with experience working with transmissions, or it's likely they'll just create another problem.

I have yet to have second gear grind. I would take it to the dealer as it is covered under warranty. If it's as often as you say they should be able to replicate it easily.

I'd try Redline or Amsoil MTF. Few buddies of mine said that significantly helped their issues on the FK8.

I do have a friend with an FL5 who is having 1st gear lockout but I haven't had a chance to witness it in person so just going off what he's telling me. I think he's going to take to the dealer this week.

Hey we met recently; I have the black one. Maybe I'll have to have you drive mine and see if I'm crazy

Ohh hahaha didn't realize it was you! Yeah, man, happy to get you some feedback as I haven't heard of any issues of the FL5 having the 2nd gear grind from the FK8.

Is there consensus on which fluid works best with this trans, AC Delco vs. Amsoil?

I've been running with ACDelco FM for 3k miles to alleviate a 4th gear lockout issue on my FK8, so far so good.

Never had a lockout, but I ordered the amsoil mtf, so will give it a shot if the dealer doesn't help me. Still find it weird how auto rev match makes a huge difference for me which is something I found by reading about the fk8

Verify clutch pedal play is present but not excessive. 2nd gear typically does the most work also. Does this car have a clutch delay valve?

No play in the pedal, but I'll check near the master cylinder when I get a chance later. There is a CDV; I'll remove it if Honda tells me to F myself, but I don't want to give them any ammo to deny a warranty claim for now.
